INTRODUCTION
What is a Drone?
• The technical name of drones is “Unmanned Aerial
Vehicles” (UAVs).
•They are aerial vehicles which come in wide varieties
of sizes, shapes and functions, which are controlled
either by remote or control systems from the ground.
• They are generally used to carry out tasks in which
manned flight is considered to be risky.
•Drones mostly find use in military services, but are
now days finding use in various civilian operations
such as search and rescue, weather analysis etc.
ARCHITECTURE
• Multi-spectral targeting
system - camera and
sensors.
• Nose camera.
• V-shaped tail.
• GPS.
WORKING PRINCIPLE OF UAV
• A UAV system has two parts,
the drone itself and the control
system.
• The plane is controlled from
the ground by trained combat
pilots or programmers.
• The surveillance data is sent to
satellites from which it is
received by the ground forces
to form the attack strategies
and vulnerable areas in the
enemy’s camp.
• It can fly at extremely high
altitudes to avoid detection.
COMMERCIAL DRONE
• It is a Quad copter and made with composite
materials for light weight and stability.
• A camera is fixed to it and a GPS is also fixed
to it.
APPLICATIONS
DISASTER RELIEF:
• It can enter radiation-filled "hot zones" where
human access would be dangerous (after a
nuclear accident, for example) to searching for
survivors across a debris-filled landscape.
• Its carbon fibre housing allows drones to
operate successfully under testing conditions
such as rain or snow and at extreme
temperatures, as in the case of fires. With data
transfer to the Base Station taking place in real
time, it is no longer necessary for fire fighters
or other support personnel to enter the danger
zone in order to analyse the situation.
CONT’D…
SECURITY:
• With a laser scanner a comprehensive recording
of the scene of a traffic accident can be made,
which simplifies the drawing up of the accident
report.
AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND
VIDEO:
• Picture from a bird’s eye view or create videos
from unusual perspectives is possible with a
drone.
UNMANNED CARGO SERVICE:
• for delivering parcels around the globe in
safe, fast and environmental friendly
transportation of goods.
Nixie:
• Nixie is a small camera equipped drone that can be worn as
a wrist band.
• It can be activated to unfold into a quad copter, fly in one of
its pre-programmed modes to take photos or a video, and
then return to the user.
• It is a wearable camera drone to have applications in rock
climbing, mountain biking, and other adventure sports.
TOP BRANDS
CONT’D…
Lily:
• Lily Camera is called as throw-and-shoot camera.
• It requires no controller as it follows the wearer's bracelet. The
camera follows the user via GPS tied to a bracelet, which
communicates distance, position and speed back to the camera.
• It is also equipped with an accelerometer, barometer, GPS and a
front- and a bottom-facing camera.
• This camera is also completely waterproof.
PRO’S AND CON’S
PRO’S:
• Safe intelligence gathering for military
• Able to fly under harsh conditions without risking
life
• Can take pictures where humans cannot go
• Less expensive and Accurate
• Easy to deploy, etc.,.
CON’S:
• Drones could be exploited for spying purposes
which would infringe on privacy rights
• Battery power could be limited
CONCLUSION
• Drones have always risen to the occasion
whenever they were needed. They are truly an
engineering spectacle, containing the best of
mechanical, electronics and software
technology.
• Drone will play a major role in almost all
fields in near future.
