1. The One Child Policy
The one child policy was introduced in China to stop over population, economical reason, lack of jobs
and resources etc. The Chinese government wanted to stop over population and it has worked, well
for some time. The Chinese government wanted to let the Chinese people only have 1 child so they
could stop china being overpopulated and so china good be good economically wise.
The one child policy is a good idea because:
There was not enough shelter for all population unless there was no child policy.
The country would be severely populated
Both parents are able to work so that’s good for them financially wise.
Starvation was a major problem for the Chinese people.
However, some people believe that the one child policy is a bad idea because
There is now a big gender gap with 60 million more men than women.
There will be nobody to look after the elderly.
Babies are being abandoned
Female infanticide has increased since the 1980s.
Looking at both sides of the argument I believe that the one child policy is good because without
the one child policy: the children won’t get much time with their parents, Starvation would be a
major problem for the Chinese people, both of the parents will be able to go to work which will
help them financially wise and without the one child policy china would have reached 1.3 billion
