Good morning everyone, my name is Enrique Martínez and I'm one of the cofounders of Doofinder.!
Today I’m gonna give you an overview of who we are and why we are successful.!
And this is all about search. In this video you can see our product running on a website, which basically is a layer showing results as you type into the search box of the website.!
There is also some facet filters that you can see on the right side of the layer.!
So, why we did this?!
What I’m going to tell you now is something that happened to my partner, but I guess it’s a pretty common experience.!
He was looking for some plastic cups for the office, and he went to an ecommerce and typed "plastic cups" into the search box
plastic cups
This is something that happened to my partner, but I guess it’s a very common experience.!
He was looking for some plastic cups for the office, and he went to an ecommerce and typed "plastic cups" into the search box
plastic cups
1:00 These were the results. As you can see there are some board games, a pencil, some kind of glue and more weird stuff, but not plastic cups at all. Pretty useful right?!
And because I'm a pro, I suggested: "just try this search into Google"
site:acmecorp.net plastic cups
And because I'm a pro, I suggested him: "just try this search into Google"
Actually there were plastic cups in that site, the problem was we couldn't find them. At least not without Google!
Search Sucks
That lead us to the conclusion that in the internet "Search Sucks". !
You can say "Well… mostly"!
Search Sucks
well... mostly
That lead us to the conclusion that in the internet "Search Sucks". !
You can say "Well… mostly"!
You can say there are many sites which has great search experience, like Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, and so on. That's true.!
How many?
World
Wide
Web
Bad Search
!
Good Search
But how many are they, compared to the rest of the internet sites? Maybe this big? We don’t know.!
Why is it this way? Why only the big companies have a good search?!
The Good Search Engine
•Full text search algorithms.
•Fast.
•Visual.
•Fix typos and grammatical errors.
•Phonetic indexes.
•Faceted Search.
•Statistics System.
•etc...
2:00 Let’s see some of the features that a good search engine must have. These are only some of many that you can think of, but I think they are the most important. !
It must have full text search algorithms, it must be fast, visual, it must be able to fix typos and many others.
The Good Search Engine
Development
Time
Expensive
But to achieve all this requires development, which requires engineers time, which is expensive. That’s why only big companies have good search.
Development
from 15 min.
from 19 €/month
Development
Time
Expensive
But with Doofinder we've got: NO development, an installation time from 15 minutes, and prices from 19 € per month. !
So, we have the solution for all those many sites which don't have the resources of the big companies.
