1. Nitzavim 1st Aliyah (Deu 29)
9 You are standing today, all of you, before יהוה your Elohim—
the leaders of your tribes, your elders and your officers, even
all the men of Isra’el, 10 your little ones, your wives, and the
sojourner who is within your camps, from the one who cuts
your wood and to the one who draws your water, 11 that you
may enter into a covenant with יהוה your Elohim, and his oath,
which יהוה your Elohim is making with you this day,
2. Nitzavim 2nd Aliyah (Deu 29)
12 in order to establish you this day as his people, and that he
may be your Elohim as he spoke to you and as he swore to
your fathers, to Avraham, Yitz’chak and Ya’akov. 13 But not
only with you am I making this covenant and this oath 14 but
with those who stand here with us today in the presence of
יהוה our Elohim and also with those who are not here with us
today.
3. Nitzavim 3rd Aliyah (Deu 29)
15 For you know how we dwelt in the land of Mitsrayim and how
we passed through the nations through which you passed. 16
And you saw their abominations and their idols of wood and
stone, silver and gold which were with them.
4. Nitzavim 3rd Aliyah (Deu 29)
17 Perhaps there is among you a man or woman, clan or tribe
whose heart turns away today from יהוה our Elohim to go and
serve the gods of those nations; perhaps there is among you a
root that produces bitterness or wormwood.
5. Nitzavim 3rd Aliyah (Deu 29)
18 And it shall be, when he hears the words of this curse, that he
will bless himself, saying, “I will have peace, even though I
walk in the stubbornness of my heart,” in order to add the
watered land with the dry.
6. Nitzavim 3rd Aliyah (Deu 29)
19 יהוה will not be willing to forgive him; rather, then, 'יהוהs
displeasure and his jealousy shall burn against that man, and
the entire curse written in this book shall settle upon him, and
יהוה shall obliterate his name from beneath the heavens. 20
And יהוה shall separate him for evil, out of all the tribes of
Isra’el, according to all the curses of the covenant, written in
this Torah scroll.
7. Nitzavim 3rd Aliyah (Deu 29)
21 And the generation to come, your sons who rise up after you
and the foreigner who comes from a far land, shall say when
they see the plagues of that land and the sicknesses with
which יהוה has afflicted it:
8. Nitzavim 3rd Aliyah (Deu 29)
22 Sulphur and salt have burned up its whole land—it cannot be
sown, nor can it bear anything, not even any grass will grow
upon it. It is like the overthrow of S’dom, ‘Amora, Admah and
Tzvoyim, which יהוה overthrew in his displeasure and in his
wrath. 23 And all the nations shall say: “Why did יהוה do so to
this land? What is the reason for this great rage of fury?”
9. Nitzavim 3rd Aliyah (Deu 29)
24 Then they shall say: “It is because they abandoned the
covenant of יהוה Elohim of their fathers, the covenant which
he made with them when he brought them out of the land of
Mitsrayim, 25 For they went and served other gods, prostrating
themselves to them, gods which they had not known, and
which he had not given to them.
10. Nitzavim 3rd Aliyah (Deu 29)
26 And 'יהוהs displeasure burned against that land, bringing
upon it the entire curse written in this book. 27 And יהוה
uprooted them from upon their land, with displeasure, wrath
and great rage, and he cast them to another land, as it is this
day.
28 The secret matters belong to יהוה our Elohim, but the things
revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may do
all the words of this Torah.
11. Nitzavim 4th Aliyah (Deu 30)
1 And it shall be, when all these words come upon you the
blessing and the curse which I have set before you and you
take them to heart among all the nations wherever יהוה your
Elohim drives you, 2 and you return to יהוה your Elohim and
obey his voice with all your heart and with all your being
according to all that I command you today, you and your sons,
12. Nitzavim 4th Aliyah (Deu 30)
3 then יהוה your Elohim shall restore your fortunes and have
compassion on you and shall gather you again from all the
peoples where יהוה your Elohim had scattered you. 4 Even if
any of your exiles are at the farthest parts of the heavens, from
there יהוה your Elohim will gather you and he will bring you
back from there.
13. Nitzavim 4th Aliyah (Deu 30)
5 And יהוה your Elohim shall bring you to the land which your
fathers possessed, and you shall take possession of it. And he
shall make you more prosperous and increase you more than
your fathers.
14. Nitzavim 4th-5th Aliyah (Deu 30)
6 And יהוה your Elohim shall circumcise your heart and the heart
of your descendants, so that you may love יהוה your Elohim
with all your heart and with all your being, so that you may live.
7 יהוה your Elohim shall put all these curses on your enemies
and on those who hate you, who persecuted you. 8 And you
shall again obey יהוה and do all his mitzvot, which I command
you today.
15. Nitzavim 5th Aliyah (Deu 30)
9 Then יהוה your Elohim shall make you abundant in all the work
of your hands, in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your
livestock and in the crops of your ground. For יהוה will again
rejoice in you for good, just as he rejoiced in your fathers, 10 if
you obey יהוה your Elohim, to guard his mitzvot and his laws
that are written in this Book of the Torah and when you turn to
יהוה your Elohim with all your heart and with all your being.
16. Nitzavim 6th Aliyah (Deu 30)
11 For this mitzvah which I command you today is not too hard
for you nor is it out of reach. 12 It is not in heaven, that you
should say, “Who shall go up into heaven for us to get it for us
and proclaim it to us so that we may obey it?” 13 Nor is it
beyond the sea, that you should say, “Who shall cross to the
other side of the sea for us and fetch it for us, to proclaim it to
us, so that we may do it?”
17. Nitzavim 6th-7th Aliyah (Deu 30)
14 Rather, this thing is very close to you; it is in your mouth and
in your heart so that you may do it.
15 See, I have set before you today life and good, and death and
evil;
18. Nitzavim 7th Aliyah (Deu 30)
16 inasmuch as I command you today to love יהוה your Elohim,
to walk in his ways, and to guard his mitzvot, his laws and his
right-rulings; so that you shall live and increase, and יהוה your
Elohim shall bless you in the land to which you are entering to
possess it. 17 But if your heart turns away and you do not
obey, and you shall be drawn away, and you shall prostrate
yourself to other gods and serve them,
19. Nitzavim 7th Aliyah (Deu 30)
18 I declare to you this day that you shall certainly perish, and
that you shall not prolong your days in the land to which you
are crossing the Yarden to enter and possess it. 19 I call
heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set
before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. You shall
choose life, so that you may live, you and your descendants,
20. Nitzavim 7th Aliyah (Deu 30)
20 to love יהוה your Elohim, and to listen to his voice, and to
cling to him. For that is your life, and the length of your days, to
dwell in the land which יהוה swore to your fathers, to Avraham,
Yitz’chak and Ya’akov to give to them.
