My chosen target audience for my publication is 16-21 year-olds, or older teens to
young adults. I have chosen this target audience because I feel that the rock/pop
genre of my magazine appeals to this audience because of their different tastes and
demographics.
About half of all teens favour rock music while the other half may favour pop so I feel
this factor balances them out. The young adults come into this by providing the
higher side of the equation; having developed tastes and being easier to recognise
the demographics within my publication.

The demographic that I am mainly targeting is Surveillance. I will be utilising this
demographic by mainly including features on bands and a band interview that will
let readers know more about the band and what their likes and interests are.
Another important demographic is Recreation because the magazine will give
people something to do and potentially look forward to when reading the magazine,
and it will also keep people occupied.

My photography relates to my target audience in a few ways. I have used the
picture below as an example.
The way Ben is sitting gives off an air of seriousness, like he is focusing on an
objective in his mind. This relates to my target audience because older teens tend
to think a lot before doing things, so this picture gives that kind of thought. He also
has a kind of solemn, steady attitude, with a hint of aggressiveness, which relates
to my target audience because of the behaviour cycle of teens and young adults.
This also fits in with the genre of my magazine.
