2. Main Targets
Integrate the principles of sustainable development into country policies and
programs and reverse the loss of environmental resources.
Reduce biodiversity loss, achieving, by 2010, a significant reduction in the
rate of loss.
Halve, by 2015, the proportion of the population without sustainable access
to safe drinking water and basic sanitation.
Achieve, by 2020, a significant improvement in the lives of at least 100
million slum dwellers
3. Why does it resonate for you?
Everyone should have access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation
(things a lot of us, including myself, take for granted)
Forests provide a habitat for millions of species of plants and animals. They
help in the mitigation and adaptation of climate change.
The rising greenhouse emissions are warming our planet, which results in
long-lasting changes in out climate (resulting in food shortages/extreme
weather)
If we are able to help those less fortunate, they can get back on their feet
and get an education. In turn, they can help others and continue the cycle.
4. How can your interest be applied locally?
Donating to charities who have access to areas who need help.
Start fundraisers and spread the word through social media.
