- When Fred first asked us to have a presentation about us and our hometown, I thought It would be easy, but It wasn’t. I’ve had to think of who I am and do research about the country and the city I’ve grown up and lived in. So, before beginning the presentation, I’d like to say “Thank you so much” to Fred to have such a great opportunity to think of who I am and to do research about where I am from. While preparing for this, I realized the lack of knowledge of my country and my self. Thanks again, and are you folks ready??
- On the left side of the picture are my mom and dad. They were dating on their campus- Look at them! They look young, and for me, it is hard to think of that they were young and dating like my husband and me. Later, they got married and had a baby. It is me! Looking at me, I know, I wasn’t as cute as my mom expected. Sometimes, she said she was disappointed with my looks. Wasn’t she mean to me? On the lower right is a picture we took at my first birthday. Why I chose the picture is to show Korea’s traditional first birthday party. We call it Doljanchi that celebrates the birthday of a one-year-old baby. *Why would people celebrate their child’s first birthday? One more question- If he pick up rice, what could we expect about his future?
- How far is my home country, South Korea from here? Maybe, it takes 14 hours to get there by flight. Can you find South Korea? Officially the Republic of Korea Sometimes referred to simply as Korea, is a country in East Asia, located on the southern portion of Korean Peninsula. *How far is South Korea from here? Where is South Korea ?
- I’d like to convince you guys to go to Korea, which is very attractive and has diverse culture. I know it is like promoting my country. It is. I mean, I could guess all most of all you guys have never been in my country, and further, with a limited time I just could give you folks a crash course about Korea. So I’ve decided to show a video clip.
- Such a big city , populated with 12milion, Seoul is one of the largest cities in the world. Seoul is considered as a global city. It is one of the world’s top ten financial and commercial centers, home to large conglomerates, such as Samsung, LG and Hyundai-kia. *Why do people consider Seoul as a global city?
- Here is a picture of me when I was little, maybe was six or seven years old. I was quiet extroverted and outgoing. I mean, I think everyone has both introvert and extrovert characteristics. Now, I don’t think so. I’m so lively that people considered me as an extrovert, but not any more. And on the right, you can see my father and my sis. My father was much younger than then and he was working for a company. He retired 2 years ago. My youger sis is there. Now she is 26-years-old, working for a company and also looking for Mr. right, someone like my husband.
- Through these pictures I’d like to show my relationship with my husband and my friends. Through first picture, you could tell he is very sweat- I can remember that time he throw a surprising party for me before I left in Korea. It is almost 4 or 5 years ago. He worked for hotel. And lower left picture you can see my friends- very close to each other- we all have different nationality though. A couple are from Japan, a couple are from America, and my husband and I are from Korea. So sometimes you can hear three different languages when meeting all together. We usually get together for New year’s eve or birthday. On the Right - it was taken that I was in New York and he visited there for school interviewing. We’d had a long distance relationship for a long time. When we finally got together it was like reunion for a couple having hard time.
- These three pictures were taken in 2008 when I graduated from grad school, and you can tell that my family came to NYC to attend my graduation ceremony. Sadly enough, I don’t have many pictures of my father. Look at my mom and my husband- it is one of my favorite pictures, although she doesn’t look cute as she is~ She look incredibly younger than her age. And you can see, in the lower right piture we were dating all over the city, one of the most attractive and romantic cities in the world.
- As a matter of the fact, we’ve dreamed of marriage for a quiet long time. Then, finally he proposed to me and here we are- taking wedding pictures- It is very common for people who are about to get married to take pictures before their wedding. And I didn’t like my wedding day but I loved the day we took these pictures. We chose the studio very carefuly and it worked for us.
- Here are honeymoon pictures. We went to Indonesia, Bali just to be relaxed after such a big wedding. I didn’t want to have a big wedding but apparently it turned out to be a big one as both parents wanted to make it bigger and bigger. We just wanted to be relaxed and decided to stay in a villa, swimming and eating and taking pictures are all we did.
- Here is the present. I’m in Amherst, MA with my husband. As all guys know he is a student at UMASS. I’m trying to put the things we love. We love to try everything we’ve never done so far. It could be trying eating new food, or going somewhere we’ve never been- And we love to go to CAFÉ to enjoy a cup of coffee or have a piece of cake. And I love the moment I’m reading a book and he is doing research.
