RAFIKI
Agro Innovation Centre
Rafiki Agro Innovation Centre (RAIC) is a project under
JHM Foundation in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. RAIC is a
Business Accelerator targeting to work with smart young
people who want to venture into agriculture.
RAIC aims to incubate 10 start-ups per year for 5 years
from the starting idea to a funding level. RAIC’s business
model is to take each start-up as an independent cost
center and develop it to run profitably. The profit will be
used to bay back the initial investment and to scale up the
project. RAIC’s object is to inspire and support start-ups in
the following key areas; business formation, development
and acceleration.

Self-SUSTAINING
JHM Foundation will invest both land and
financial resources into mentoring
Tanzanian youth. After the agriculture
businesses start to make a reliable profit,
the youth will have the resources and
experience needed to purchase their own
plots of land and continue their
businesses. JHM Foundation will take a
share of the businesses’ profits to pay
back the initial investment.
Thus, the project will continue to pay for itself and can
be expanded to reach more youth.
