PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Con-way, Portland, Oregon, 2007 - 2015
Con-way was one of the largest LTL companies in North America employing over 50,000 people. The Tech
Training team consisted of 5-6 full-time Instructional Designers. Tech Training collaborated with other training
teams dispersed throughout the company.
Sr. Instructional Designer
Designed training for IT systems (e.g., handheld devices, operational functions, optimization projects), and software
systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Kronos, Corporate Card) across multi-functional corporate business units. The IT
projects required collaborating with the corporate Learning and Development team to develop Train-the-Trainer
sessions for system rollouts.
Achievements
Initiated the design and use of mobile learning for 16,000 drivers and dock workers to take required training
and assessments on newly rolled out handhelds, reducing the time wasted and production affected by
users taking 2-3 hour long training classes. As a result the new training approach reduced training costs by
approximately $400,000.
Accelerated the development of eLearning courses by collaborating with training teams and designing
templates and standards that expedited training development and removed waste of rework.
Integrated adult learning principles and ADDIE processes to build training solutions that successfully met
the business requirements while providing only what the user needs.
Coordinated the use of mobile learning to provide the requirement of scalable and flexible training for
thousands of users using new handhelds. The business required the training be cut in half in time for
rollout. The modulated approach provided the flexibility to choose selected modules which got workers
back on the job with no negative operational impact.
Redesigned training for a time management program that users didn't like or use anymore. The redesign
cut 50% waste in the current manual and provided the user what they needed by creating real life
scenarios and expected results.

Interpublic Group of Companies (IPG), Portland, Oregon, 2001 – 2007
Interpublic Group is a global leader in modern marketing solutions. With 48,000 employees and multiple companies
drive business results for clients around the world.
Instructional Designer/Trainer
Utilized adult learning methods, ADDIE, eLearning skills to design and deliver global training across many business
partners under the corporate umbrella.
Achievements
Choreographed a requirement through manager's office for all trainers across the company to be certified
as technical trainers. Worked with the CompTIA guidelines to build a Train-the-Trainer workshop for all
corporate trainers to complete training videos and exams. As a result all trainers submitted videos to
CompTIA, took the exam, and all were certified as CTT+ trainers.
Resolved how a new time management systems would be trained across the company in a short amount of
time with only four trainers. Upon discussion it was decided each trainer would take a portion of the
Continental U.S. and train each business unit in each region. As a result of the training effective and
completed on schedule.
Partnered with team members that worked from different locations across the country to create the first
eLearning for the SAP system. Created a system of reviews and status meetings to mitigate any chance of
not completing the project on time. This kept each person accountable of their responsibilities and provided
a timely completion of the project.
