2. Organisational Change
at Gatwick IT
Gatwick Airport’s IT department were just forming
and needed support in coming together as one
team. As Learning Advisor I delivered team and
organisational development interventions to put
people development firmly on the leadership
agenda, and to help their five different teams take
a more joined up approach.
3. This IT department of 130 people were relocating, bringing two offices
together for the first time. It was the perfect opportunity to improve
collaboration across previously separated teams. I worked with the Roffey
Park Institute to design a World Café event. We used four questions that
responded directly to issues that team members had raised earlier in the
year. Through the conversations employees got to work with people they
hadn’t worked with before, whilst generating their own ideas for change.
Creating a culture of collaboration
ONE TEAM, ONE LOCATION: BE PART OF THE CHANGE
4. What kind of event would allow virtual teams to engage senior leaders in their team
improvement projects, on a level playing field? Answer: a community fayre. I designed
and delivered this All Hands event to have leaders and teams working together towards
a culture of collaboration.
5. Jules brings a unique combination of professional curiosity about her clients’ world, a creative mind-set, commercial
pragmatism and respectful challenge. I have been impressed by her ability to assimilate conflicting information from
multiple stakeholders and find a way to cut through complexity to quickly arrive at a solution that works for everyone.
Perhaps most strikingly of all, Jules is comfortable and capable in the digital world and is able to bring technology
enhanced products and approaches to human development initiatives, engaging learners in multiple ways. At the heart
of Jules’ practice are deep integrity and a sense of fun!

6. Interactive e-books
I have written and storyboarded interactive books for
Hemsley Fraser and their clients. This example, Social
Media in the Workplace drew on my experience of
working on the digital strategy at Gatwick Airport, as well
as up to date research and thinking on the topic.
7. I have led a number of Insights Discovery sessions for teams and new managers helping people at work:
• Discover their personal working styles and their unique value to the organisation
• Self-assess their performance as a team
• Develop deeper trust with each other and understanding of their communication styles
• Boost team morale, find pride in what they do and renew their energy for the future
I now appreciate
more that a varied
team brings better
approaches to
work.

8. Jules has been an associate of Edge & Stretch for 18 months now. Most of the work Jules has been involved in has been
is insight gathering (i.e. interviews, data gathering, synthesising data, report writing), design of interventions and working
directly on assignments with clients where necessary. She has become my ‘go to’ person for much of this kind of work.
There are several reasons for this:
• Jules is dependable – she delivers to standard and more often exceeds what has been asked for in quality
• She is detail orientated in a way I am not – that is wonderful for me
• She is extremely bright and astute – this makes her great at gathering data and helping me make sense of it
• She is knowledgeable about the field we both work in – both the theory and practice
• Lastly, she is a delight to work with – I trust her implicitly.

9. Mapping stakeholders & personality style
Key
Arrow heads show direction of communication flow. 2 or 1 way?
Dotted or full line = strength of relationship
2 bars crossing the relationship line = tension or conflict
Tick which colour energies you
think they lead with
Supporting Speaker and Coach Lily Lapenna,
I shaped a leaders in marketing workshop for Pfizer. This
included a stakeholder mapping exercise where they could
apply their understanding of colour energy preferences and
personality styles to their key stakeholders. From that they
could understand how best to communicate with them.

10. Jules has made a significant contribution refocusing our business amidst a time of change. Her OD lens has
been a valuable perspective adding a new dimension to our existing expertise. She is often at the frontier of
new ideas and brings these experiences to our consultancy, opening new avenues of practice.
Jules brings an exquisite attention to detail often seeing things in a highly original way. Her approach is both
refreshing and has a strong client focus. She has high standards placing the client and the learner central in
her approach to design. She has a particular gift at being the mentor to the trainer, supporting her design
ideas through to delivery. Jules is sensitive and has a fine-tuned relational approach, she seeks to create
playful and joyful contexts for learning and experimentation. Jules has a vast amount of knowledge and
wisdom to share. I enjoy her collaborative approach.

12. At the Quality Improvement Clinic we have the good fortune and privilege to have Jules Bevis as head of QIClearn (our
digital enterprise) for over 12 months now.
Jules was recommended to us by our online digital platform provider. She took on, navigated and rapidly added value to
our recently established learning programmes. When presented with a new idea and digital challenge, Jules grasps a
brief and crafts a learning piece that exceeds expectations. Pledge to Action™ is a great example of this.
Jules’ alignment with our values and her ability to interpret our intentions and ambitions for our learners is impressive. Her
empathy and connection with the learner is evident in everything she does.
