1. MACBETH
Macbeth is the evil King
of Scotland who stole the
throne from Duncan by
murdering him and who
sinks into a
state of chaos because of
his greed and guilt; his
evil acts lead to his ruin,
and rebel forces lead an
attack against
him, and Macduff, in a
personal battle, beheads
him.
2. LADY MACBETH
Lady Macbeth is one of
Shakespeare’s most
infamous female
characters because she
exerts a great deal of
influence over the events
of the play and is the
main instigator in the plot
to kill the king. In many
respects, Lady Macbeth is
a classic femma fatal. She
is more ambitious and
power hungry than
Macbeth, her husband,
and when he tries to back
out of the murder she has
plotted, she calls his
manhood into question
3. MACDUFF
Macduff shows early on a
distrust of Macbeth.
Macduff then plays the
avenger. He is the kings
right hand man. He is very
close to the king and begins
to figure out that Macbeth
killed the king. He leaves all
of his possessions behind
and flees to be with Malcolm
and Donalbain. He then
learns that his entire family
has been killed by Macbeth.
This creates great anger in
him and forces him to feel a
need for revenge. He is also
a driving force that helps to
overthrow Macbeth. In the
end he beheads Macbeth.
