with the opponent, often using fear as a
weapon to lower the impression voters have
of the opponent.
Examples:
-One of the most famous attack ads was
Daisy Girl by the Lyndon B. Johnson
campaign, which successfully made
Republican opponent Barry Goldwater
to look as if he threatened nuclear war.
10. Contrast ads compare and contrast the
candidate with the opponent, usually
comparing positive information about one
candidate and negative information about the
other candidate.
Because contrast ads contain some positive
information, contrast ads are seen as less
damaging than attack ads.
