Fuji Rock Festival, Japan. 26th –28th July This three-day festival is held inthe ski resort of Naeba and isknown to be the largest musicfestival in Japan. Why is afestival named Fuji Rock, located300 km away in Naeba I hearyou cry?! Well funnilyenough, the event began lifenear the base of MountFuji, however the first year ofthe festival was somewhatdisastrous as a typhoonstruck, Anthony Kiedis broke hisarm (although continued playinga full set) and scores of peoplecame down with hypothermia.Not to worry though, eventorganisers have ensured thesmooth running of the festivalsince its relocation and peoplereturn year after year ready fora good time.
Glastonbury Festival, UK. 26th –30th June. The Rolling Stones, Sinead O’Connor, ArcticMonkeys, need we say more? The line up ofGlastonbury 2013 is set to be a cacophonicassemblage of different genres. With somethingfor everybody, even the pickiest music buff issure to be wowed by the variety of performersthat Glastonbury offers up year after year.
Pinkpop Festival, Netherlands.14th-16th June. Dubbed as thelongest runningannual music festivalin the world, Pinkpopis held every year onthe Pentecostalweekend. With acapacity of60,000, this year TheKillers, Alt-J andGreen Day are amongthe headliners as wellas a handful of localdutch bands.
Bonaroo Music and ArtsFestival, 15th-16th June. In 2008 Rolling Stone magazine stated that Bonaroo was “theultimate over-the-top summer festival” a sentiment that hasbeen echoed by festival goers ever since. With its ownpermanent location, the festival has grown considerably since itsopening year in 2002, when it didn’t even advertise but stillmanaged to play to sold out audiences. This year will be thetwelfth annual festival and will be headlined by PaulMcCartney, Bjork and Tom Petty to name but a few.
