Sound of KoKo’infuses the styles of Blues, Jazz, Soul, Funk and Hip Hop using their
unique and vibrant musical arrangements with a tribal feel. Playing vibrant originals and
their own take on covers. A Six-piece out-fit is the perfect fit for a band, all members
bringing their unique flavour. KoKo is like a musical degustation, pleasing to the ears riding
waves of sound.
Leading vocalist is the soulful and sultry songbird Kachina, previously from group Taurine:
Ministry Of Sound (UK), aka Lady K & Aviators: Warner Music, more recently working
with Fat Groove as Kachina. She works her magic with a selective choice of familiar covers
and performs many of her original works; which are soulful delights. Kachina's performances
are unpredictable, free and extraordinarily uplifting. Her distinct sound is deep, evocative and
lushly textured.
Driving KoKo’s rhythmical journey is lead Guitarist and funk Maestro Guy Munro.
Munro’s interpretations are blessed with limitless musical imagination, dropping his very own
artistic arrangements to drive under and over the grooves and layers. Munro will leave you
hungry for more with his innovative solos and fresh sounds. Catch him in full flight playing
his original collaborations with Kachina.
Releasing deep grooves on Bass Guitar is Sofia 'Pila'. Pila whips up a cool wind of rhythms
adding depth and warmth beneath the sounds. She captures listeners with her incredible
guitar dexterity and her impeccable connection between rhythm and melody. Pila is a
transformative musician often playing Percussive rhythms and a touch of rhythm guitar
adding her magic to the diversity of the band.
3. Introducing one of the finest Saxophonists on the South Coast, Grant Merinuk, and a
brilliant Jazz musician from Canada. Grant will take you on a smooth journey lifting KoKo
through great heights and blowing minds with genius outbursts and clever placement of Sax
tones. Grant brings his very own unique and sophisticated style to KoKo. Enjoy an amazing
vibrant Saxy journey or be consumed by his stupendous solos.
Evoking the emotions within the music and warmly filling space with bright and funky
melodies is our dexterous Keyboard player, Gino Vellonio. Gino brings immense soul,
vibrant funk and smooth jazzy chords to KoKo dancing with the rhythms, allowing the music
to melt into the mix. Oooh... it's the perfect ingredient for KoKo! Gino Vellonio is a
brilliant musician adding zest to the musical experience.
Last, but by no means least is crackerjack drummer Giovanni D'angelo, formerly from band
JIDA. With a vast array of musical experience, D'angelo's diversity and substantial rhythms
reinforce KoKo's rich sounds. Giovanni aka‘John Dan the man’with warm rhythms brings
life to the beats. He has impressive, solid and sophisticated drumming cadence. D'angelos
exuberant grooves bring light and shade as he drives the steady beats. He has the air and
expertise, which creates movement, energy and vibrancy within the music, enhancing KoKo's
musical journey.
Through the Sound of KoKo, music dances in the night sky like the stars on high. It is
