June 21 Riverfest Family and MWR, in partnership with AUSA, is once again offering a
9 am – 2 pm summer day on the river to Fort Drum Soldiers and Families at the annual
Family and MWR/AUSA Riverfest on June 21. Your day in Alexandria Bay
can start at Alexandria Bay Village Pavilion for a picnic lunch before strolling
through the village to the Uncle Sam dock where you can also enjoy the
Family and MWR Carnival at the boat launch area with children’s events,
rock climbing wall, USO and Veteran’s Services displays as you await your
riverboat for a 1 hour tour of the Thousand Islands you will have access to
Heart Island with a tour of Boldt Castle. Tickets are $15 per adult, $5 for
children aged 6 to12, and children who are 5 years of age and younger are
welcome to attend for free. Tickets are available now at the Family and
MWR window on the second floor of Clark Hall Monday through Friday
between the hours of 9 am – 4 pm and Monday through Saturday at Parks
and Recreation daily from 9am – 5 pm. Bus transportation is provided from
Magrath Sports Complex to Riverfest and is encouraged due to limited
parking available in Alexandria Bay. Additional parking and shuttle
transportation are available at the Alexandria Bay Drive-In located on Rt. 26
or at the Uncle Sam’s overflow parking lot located off of Rt. 12. Look for
directional signs for Riverfest parking. The last bus returning to Fort Drum

June 21 Military Presented by the Army Community Service Mobilization and Deployment
9:30 am – 2:30 Resiliency program. Module Three provides students with three additional resilience
pm Training Module skills: Problem Solving, Put It In Perspective and Real-Time Resilience.
3 Problem Solving is a tool specifically designed for complex, interpersonal,
recurrent problems. It builds Mental Agility and helps overcome the
confirmation bias. Put It In Perspective (PIIP) builds Optimism, stops
catastrophizing and reduces anxiety. Real-Time Resilience also builds
Optimism and is used to deal with counterproductive thinking in time-

2. June 21 YC High- Learn about this popular pastime where you will use a Global Positioning

June 23 ATV Safety Class Adventure Training offers this four-hour class twice on June 23 to patrons.
9 am or 1 pm This class is required in order to operate the Family and MWR ATVs on
trips. Cost of the class is $5 per person and will be conducted in the Parks

for the coveted Mountainfest Trophy. June 25 – Mountainfest 5K & 10K
run, Basketball, Flag Football, Sand Volleyball, and Soccer Tournaments.

June 25 2012 5K & 10K Active Duty Fort Drum Soldiers will compete in this 10K race in qualifying
6:30 am Army 10-Miler to run the 2012 Army 10-Miler which is held in Washington DC in
Qualifier October. This race begins at Division Hill and will follow a 10K course on
Fort Drum roads. Prior registration is required by visiting the Fort Drum
Sports Office in Magrath Sports Complex.

June 28 Mountainfest The Fort Drum and North Country Community is invited to Division Hill
1 pm on June 28, to enjoy the day at Mountainfest. The fun begins at 1 p.m. at this
yearly event featuring military equipment displays, amusements, games, and
food and beverage concessions. Once again, The Boss Custom Car,
Motorcycle, and Audio Show returns to Division Hill with vehicle
competition registrations beginning at 1 p.m. The one and only Washington
Redskins Cheerleaders will be making an appearance at 3:30 p.m. and at 5
p.m. Salute To the Nation will be presented on the parade field. Salute To
The Nation is a highly anticipated event and community favorite at
Mountainfest with a patriotic rank and file display honoring each state in the
union. Followed by Air Assault demonstration. Country music star; Jake
Owen will perform at a free concert beginning at 7 pm with opening act TJ
Murphy courtesy of AmeriCU Credit Union and Lockheed Martin. Top off
this amazing day by staying for a spectacular fireworks display immediately

Remington Park is now open for family recreation. Remington Park is Fort Drum's premier
recreational facility offering a variety of activities for individuals and units alike. The park
features 5 large pavilions, several medium pavilions and picnic tables for smaller groups,
volleyball, horseshoes, playgrounds, fishing docks (catch and release only), a beach area, a
fitness trail. Two lodge facilities are available for rent (day use for special events) through the
Fort Drum Commons. Horseback riding is back at Remington Park. Rides are available on a
first come first served basis on Tuesdays and Thursdays through September 6. Horses are
available for up to three riders. Fee is $30 per person with cash only accepted for payment.
Riders must be at least 8 years of age and under 220 pounds in weight. The guided one hour
trail ride begins at Lloyd’s Landing. The beach offers swimming, snack bar, paddleboat, and
kayak rentals. Reservations for the lodge facilities may be made through the Fort Drum
Commons. Reservations may be made for the large or medium pavilions through the Parks
and Recreation office. Remington Park is open 7 days a week Monday - Saturday 9 am- 9 pm,
Sunday 10 am - 8 pm. The beach is open 11am - 7 pm daily. Call 772-4765 for more
