Supporting IT Consultants. TEKsystems St. Louis
1. Consultant Panel Success in St. Louis
Through a recently hosted consultant panel, the St. Louis office was able to gain a greater understanding
of the needs of our contract employees.
Kalena Beckley, Account Manager in the St. Louis office, started with TEKsystems last year as a
Recruiter and was promoted to sales in January. With her DBO, Simon Gislimberti, as a mentor and
advocate for driving consultant experience, Kalena quickly saw the value in getting hands-on with the
consultants she worked with. Kalena is passionate about working closely with her hiring managers to
obtain consultant feedback and often collaborates with them on how they could increase job satisfaction
from both the consultant and client end. With consultant experience being such a high priority for Kalena,
she partnered with Simon to host a consultant panel for their office. With a lot of new hires in the office, as
well as seasoned employees that would benefit from a refresher, scheduling a panel worked out to be
both timely and valuable. They teamed-up with Director of Regional Operations Robyn Rainey and
Program Manager of Consultant Programs Jen Doran to help with the execution of the event.
After a nomination and selection process, five consultants with diverse skillsets were invited to participate.
Opening first with refreshments, the St. Louis staff and the consultants were able to mingle prior to the
event. When it came time to participate in the consultant panel, employees were able to ask the
TEKsystems consultants direct questions about their past and current experiences working with staffing
firms. The consultants opened up and provided candid feedback, offering valuable insight into what
exactly is important to our external employees. Simon, who has hosted panels before, felt the feedback
that the panel gave was extremely beneficial, particularly because of the significant amount of onboarding
they have been doing in St. Louis. The office has eight recruiters who are 13 weeks or less in the role,
and the feedback from the panel reinforced what they had learned in training in regards to the hearts and
the clouds, as well as the voice of the customer. Simon explained that hearing directly from the
consultants helped bring it altogether. "It showed everyone how competitive the industry is and the
importance of differentiating ourselves with the consultants through relationship building." DRO Robyn
also felt the event was a big success, and that it offered a "live version of the answers to the test we have
always had. For the newer members of our team, it really helped to connect the dots hearing it publicly
from the consultants."
2. One consultant mentioned relationship building in nearly all of their responses. Another participant gave
sound advice, guiding recruiters to tailor their messages and reference established relationships to make
sure they are not "sounding like a robot." All panel contributors provided positive feedback after the event,
truly appreciating the opportunity to share their side of the employer/employee relationship. One of the
individuals sent a thank you note commenting that "this how relationships in a consulting company are
built and strengthened." Excited about the overall success of the event and seeing the impact that is has
had on the office, Kalena remarked that the experience has been driving positive energy in the office and
is a reminder that, "We are impacting lives, not just filling jobs."
