2. With the support and leadership of a range of supporters, the United
Nations Association in Canada is proud to host our 13th Edition of
the Canadian International Model United Nations in Ottawa from
March 3-6, 2016. This experiential learning simulation is designed to
provide youth with the ability to learn, negotiate and exemplify repre-
sentatives of the global community, drafting resolutions about security,
human rights, environmental issues and humanitarian intervention.
CANIMUN is Canada’s only post-secondary level bilingual simula-
tion, allowing delegates to express themselves in either one of Cana-
da’s official languages.
CANIMUN 2016 will convene 250 of the best and brightest young
scholars from Canadian post-secondary institutions. They are joined by
delegations from American and international universities to explore,
debate and develop formal resolutions on pressing global issues. This
event showcases the most engaged, professional and ambitious of
young citizens from across Canada and internationally, providing an
outstanding opportunity for networking and recruitment.

3. Public Panel and Celebration of International Women’s Day featuring a high-level panel of speakers and
reception; includes delegates and CANIMUN staff , plus additional guests up to 500
Daily Committee Sessions where delegates negotiate solutions to pressing international issues such as food
security, terrorism, economic development and gender equality.
High-Level Briefings on Young Scholar Engagement in Climate Action: delegates have the opportunity
to both visit foreign embassies as well as receive briefings from subject-matter experts and public officials.
Networking Luncheons, where delegates have the opportunity to build relationships and connections with
their peers, as well as with special guests
Closing Ceremonies wrap up the conference with awards for best delegates
