How Plants Purify Water
Aquatic plants play an important role in maintaining a healthy water quality. They not
only absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the water, improving the
environment for fishes, dragon flies and frogs, but absorb nutrients from the water as
well. This reduction in nutrients results in clearer water and less alga.

How We Work
• At the project site an assessment is conducted to measure the water quality, to identify the nature
and extent of the pollution, and to establish all options to increase the water quality.
• In close consultation with the client a detailed project plan is drafted.
• After possible permissions have been granted, the project is implemented.
• After finishing the project, the site is visited regularly together with the client to evaluate progress,
to advice on maintenance and to discuss any additional measures if deemed necessary.

OUR PROJECTS
The Efteling
In 1995 a major project was conducted for the Efteling amusement park in the Netherlands,
the largest theme park in the Benelux with 4.7 million visitors every year. All sewage water is
cleaned by aquatic plant filtering and reused in the ponds at the park. Today, more than two
decades after the system has been installed, it still works perfectly.

OUR PROJECTS
Eendrachts Park &
Geuzeveld Canals
The Eendrachts Park and Geuzeveld canals in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) were major
polluted areas. During this three-year project a variety of water plants was used to clean the
canals and ponds. It resulted in very clear water and a major improvement of the water
quality.

OUR PROJECTS
The Gemeentemuseum
Den Haag
The Municipal Museum of The Hague (Gemeentemuseum Den Haag) is a famous art
museum in The Hague (the Netherlands), renowned for its large Mondrian collection in the
world. The pond in front of the museum suffered from excessive growth of algae. By using
different kinds of aquatic plants the algae problem was solved quickly, the water clarity
improved and oxygen levels rose.
