2. THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
-Shapes the justification of the research problem objectives
-It is a symbolic construction which uses abstract, concepts, facts or laws,
variables and their relations
-Serves as legal basis to describe properly the process of the study
-It is required to formulate existing theories which link the study
-Involves theories that are useful devices for interpreting, criticizing and
unifying established scientific laws and facts that guide in discovering new
generalizations.
3. CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
-Presents specific and well-defined concepts which are
called constructs.
-Similar to theoretical framework because the
constructs are derived from abstract, concepts of the
theoretical framework
4. Theory
- Consists of generalizations ( statements or conclusions) about the phenomena based on some
amount of evidence and continued verification.
- Develops from studies over a period of time which tends to show that it is true.
- There are concepts
- Purposes thee way variables are related
- Hypothesized relationship are tested and confirmed or validate to some extent.
- It needs further investigation in some other situations.
5. Types of theory
1.Speculative philosophical theory – analyzes
data and prescribes norms.
2.Empirical theory – derives conclusions of
cause-effect and relationships of variables
6. Model
-It is a construction of variables and their relationships
used to present reality.
-It provides a picture of what the phenomena could be
like.
-Can be an illustration with description and
explanation
7. Perspective
-It is used instead of theory, model and paradigm.
-It is preferred in cases of hesitancy in using theory,
when generalizations and explanations cannot
approximate the nature of the theory.
-It denotes the mind set, the system of thought,
context of terms, the meanings and conclusion.
8. Approach
- It is the language of research that includes the word approach.
- It conveys idea that the research will deal with the problem in a particular way.
- In writing it, state the idea that you will use to interpret and analyze the information that you
will gather about the problem. State also the techniques.
