Kevin Glowacki's story and visual resume.

1. In the beginning Kevin Glowacki was born in Texas, where he learned the value of a hard day’s work from his entrepreneurial uncle and grandfather.

2. The high school years The next stop was Wantagh, NY. A part of the vast suburbia known as Nassau county, Kevin spent the next six years losing his native Texas drawl, making new friends and surviving his teenage years. Strong grades in math & science pushed him towards an interest in engineering, so after graduating 11 th in his class, the next chapter of his life was about to unfold in the land of peanuts & peaches.

3. A child of Ma Tech 3.4 GPA Co-op student 100% self-paid Atlanta, GA and Georgia Tech were next on the docket, where a love affair with the city has captured Kevin. His first co-op assignment convinced him to switch from engineering to management, where he excelled with a 3.8 GPA in his major classes. Kevin worked his way through college via the co-op program at one of the most interesting companies most people had never heard of, in a business that was filled with fun and challenge.

4. The long journey After working at The Fun Company during college, Kevin found himself in love with his work. He loved the people, camaraderie of a small organization and viewed it as a great opportunity to learn a lot. Over his career (1988 – 2006), he was constantly learning more, taking on new responsibilities and ever faithful to the vision of providing the premier company picnic in the country. Smiling faces of workers and their families at a Fun Company produced company picnic are still imprinted on Kevin’s mind and one of the reasons he remained faithful through the end.

6. Battles won, but war was lost For a variety of reasons, The Fun Company filed bankruptcy in 2006. Kevin was laid off in late September, after struggling with his colleagues to keep their special place of employment alive and kicking. It was during the last year that Kevin became interested in wine. He made friends with a wine buyer, learned about WSET (Wine Spirit Education Trust), got Intermediate & Advanced Certificates from them and became an assistant wine consultant. Kevin was following a dream of making a career in the wine trade and had the foot in the door he had worked so hard to get.

8. A friend in need After 18 months of working in wine retail, a friend from The Fun Company called. He wanted to know if I’d be interested in coming to work for him at a startup founded by ex-Fun Co employees. They needed someone with my leadership and knowledge. Kevin was able to systemize and streamline several processes, wrote a job manual, lowered costs and overhauled the pricing software. One year later, the company had to sell and close down operations in Atlanta, as the new owners consolidated everything to their location in St. Louis.

9. Rays of hope In the time since Kevin has been unemployed, he was started a wine blog, become very active on Twitter, Facebook and studied social media marketing and personal branding. Kevin is a dedicated, loyal and intelligent person. He is passionate about social media, meticulous and very detail oriented in nature (ask him why he was called Dr. Vintage when in wine retail).
