- Oprah had a gay half-brother who died of AIDS. Oprah has 7 different homes/get away spots. Oprah organized two fundraiser's in 2007 and 2008 to help support then presidential candidate, Barack Obama. After running away from her mother's home at age 13, Oprah was sent to a juvenile detention center. However, she was denied entry due to a lack of space. She was then sent to Nashville to live with her father.

- On January 15, 2008, Winfrey and Discovery Communications announced plans to change Discovery Health Channel into a new channel called OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. OWN will debut at an unspecified time in 2010. It was scheduled to launch in 2009, but has since been delayed. It will be available in more than 70 million homes because of the present position of Discovery Health Channel.
