As operators in the Permian Basin increasingly
turn their attention towards unconventional
plays including the Wolfcamp, Bone Spring,
Spraberry and Cline, geologists, geophysicists
and petrophysicists working in the region are
finding themselves faced with a fresh set of
challenges.
With key acreage positions now secured
and many sweet spots already identified,
geoscientists working in the Permian Basin’s
unconventional plays are now looking towards
using geological  geophysical data to
maximize well productivity optimize
drilling completions strategies.
Organized in collaboration with leading
Permian Basin EPs, the inaugural Permian
Basin Geology Geophysics Congress
2014 (July 15 - 16, Houston, Texas) will be
the first EP led technical forum specifically
designed for geologists, geophysicist and
petrophysicists working in unconventional
plays in the Permian Basin.
Leading EPs in the Permian Basin will
provide 20+ brand new case studies providing
practical solutions from real life experience in
incorporating geological and geophysical
data into successful drilling and completions
strategies that maximize well productivity.
Day One will focus on the use of geological
and geophysical data in relation to drilling and
completions strategies in the Permian Basin.
The day will start by examining the play-by-play
analysis of the geological and geophysical
strategies that are having most success in
maximizing productivity in the Wolfcamp,
Bone Spring, Cline and Spraberry plays.
These technical sessions will include an analysis
of finding optimal zones within sweet spots;
the use of both 3D seismic and microseismic;
the mapping of faults and natural fractures
and the varying geosteering methods being put
to use in the Permian, all to determine the best
drilling completions strategy.
Day Two will focus on the use of geological,
geophysical and petrophysical data
for building a reservoir description that
engenders reliable EUR calculations and
well productivity. The day will commence by
addressing the use of well logs, core samples
and sequence stratigraphy in the field. These
technical undertakings will be evaluated in
detail, particularly on where they are being
used efficiently and effectively by operators to
maximize well productivity. The day will progress
with a break down of the petrophysical and
geomechanical properties that are being used
by operators and how these properties - from
Porosity, Permeability and Grain Size to
Maturity, Oil In Place and Brittleness - are
being used to helpfully navigate operators
towards their most productive results in the
Permian Basin.
The event will be an unmissable opportunity
for any geoscience professional working in
unconventional plays in the Permian Basin to
learn from their peers on the practical geological
and geophysical strategies that are cost-
effectively maximizing productivity throughout
the basin’s hottest plays.

  • 2. Need to generate new sales leads, launch a new product, engage key decision makers, build new future business relationships in key markets, or simply educate the industry about a new product? Then you need to exhibit at the Permian Basin Geology Geophysics Congress 2014. Our busy exhibit area is an integral part of the Congress and is of genuine practical value to delegates, who are looking for new solutions and technologies. Exhibiting at the congress will help you position yourself as a market leader and centre of excellence to the key decision makers in the industry. For further information, please contact: info@american-business-conferences.com or + (1) 800 721 3915 Register By Friday May 16, 2014 SAVE $400 www.permian-geology-geophysics-2014.com  (1) 800 721 3915  info@american-business-conferences.com As operators in the Permian Basin increasingly turn their attention towards unconventional plays including the Wolfcamp, Bone Spring, Spraberry and Cline, geologists, geophysicists and petrophysicists working in the region are finding themselves faced with a fresh set of challenges. With key acreage positions now secured and many sweet spots already identified, geoscientists working in the Permian Basin’s unconventional plays are now looking towards using geological geophysical data to maximize well productivity optimize drilling completions strategies. Organized in collaboration with leading Permian Basin EPs, the inaugural Permian Basin Geology Geophysics Congress 2014 (July 15 - 16, Houston, Texas) will be the first EP led technical forum specifically designed for geologists, geophysicist and petrophysicists working in unconventional plays in the Permian Basin. Leading EPs in the Permian Basin will provide 20+ brand new case studies providing practical solutions from real life experience in incorporating geological and geophysical data into successful drilling and completions strategies that maximize well productivity. Day One will focus on the use of geological and geophysical data in relation to drilling and completions strategies in the Permian Basin. The day will start by examining the play-by-play analysis of the geological and geophysical strategies that are having most success in maximizing productivity in the Wolfcamp, Bone Spring, Cline and Spraberry plays. These technical sessions will include an analysis of finding optimal zones within sweet spots; the use of both 3D seismic and microseismic; the mapping of faults and natural fractures and the varying geosteering methods being put to use in the Permian, all to determine the best drilling completions strategy. Day Two will focus on the use of geological, geophysical and petrophysical data for building a reservoir description that engenders reliable EUR calculations and well productivity. The day will commence by addressing the use of well logs, core samples and sequence stratigraphy in the field. These technical undertakings will be evaluated in detail, particularly on where they are being used efficiently and effectively by operators to maximize well productivity. The day will progress with a break down of the petrophysical and geomechanical properties that are being used by operators and how these properties - from Porosity, Permeability and Grain Size to Maturity, Oil In Place and Brittleness - are being used to helpfully navigate operators towards their most productive results in the Permian Basin. The event will be an unmissable opportunity for any geoscience professional working in unconventional plays in the Permian Basin to learn from their peers on the practical geological and geophysical strategies that are cost- effectively maximizing productivity throughout the basin’s hottest plays. Venue Information: George R. Brown Convention Center Houston First Corporation 1001 Avenida de las Americas Houston Texas 77010 USA Tel: 800-427-4697 Web: www.houstonconventionctr.com Sponsorship And Exhibition Opportunities Geoscience Manager, Le Norman Operating LLC “One of the best congresses I’ve ever attended. I learned something from every presentation” VP Geoscience, Liberty Resources LLC “Great way to get up to speed quickly on multiple shale plays” Associate Geologist, Brigham Resources “Looking forward to attending again next year”
