4. INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING/ADVISING Individual appointments went up by 35% from the Fall 2009 semester to Spring 2010 semester. This increase was due to increased outreach effort, more efficient marketing strategies and increased collaboration with the faculty and the college. The majority of undergraduate students who participated in Career Counseling or Advising sessions were juniors and seniors enrolled in Lerner College. The majority of graduate students who participated in Career Counseling or Advising Sessions were international students. Career Advising/Counseling was offered to students in the following areas Resume and cover letter reviews Exploring job-search strategies Preparing for Interviews Navigating career fairs Negotiating job offers Selecting a major Exploring Graduate school opportunities “Thank you very much for your time to review my resume and cover letter this morning. 5. EMPLOYER DEVELOPMENT & OUTREACH Our employer development plan increased employer outreach by 23.5%. The employer development campaign focused outreach to small and mid-sized organizations. The campaign consisted of the following actions: Organized targeted outreach to the Chamber of Commerce in Delaware & Delaware Bioscience Association Conducted site visits to key organizations (names available upon request) Followed-up with organizations that did not participate in on-campus recruiting activities in 2008-2009 In the 2009-2010 Employer Survey, results indicated that UD students had strong verbal communication skills, are academically prepared for the workforce, and have good personal appearance for interviews. Overall, employers believed that UD applicants when compared to other schools needed additional assistance with resume preparation and needed to work on improving their knowledge about companies prior to interviews. “The involvement between the Career Services staff, the programs it holds (Mock Interviews, Resume reviews etc. ) and the students is great. I’ve volunteered my time at several events and there’s always a wonderful student turnout. 15. CORPORATE ASSOCIATES INTERNSHIPS Over 500 internship positions posted for Business Majors in Blue Hen Jobs. Top employers offering internships for Business majors include: KPMG Ernst & Young Deloitte Macy’s JPMorgan Chase PwC Bank of America AstraZeneca Aflac AAA Mid-Atlantic Lerner College Career Services Center assumed responsibility for the Corporate Associates Program starting June 2010. The top employers offering Corporate Associate positions to Lerner students include: AAA Mid-Atlantic East Side Charter School Ashland Endo Pharmaceuticals SBDC The Delaware Symphony SPI Pharma Artisan’s Bank LERNER COLLEGE CAREER SERVICES CENTER 7

17. Introduced a new career program called “Speed Networking” which brought in over 20 employers and 50 students
18. Coordinated a unique networking event with the Philadelphia Flyers where over 50 students were given an opportunity to network with top level executives from Comcast followed by a game

CareerShift™ allows students to search and store jobs from all the major job boards, company websites and newspapers as well as getting inside contact info immediately, including email addresses, for millions of companies, including UD alumni. Blue Hen Jobs is a database of internships and jobs -- including full-time, part-time, volunteer, and summer jobs -- posted specifically for UD students and alum in the US and around the world.
