The eruption of Mount St. Helens in Washington Sate, in 1980 resulted in the destruction
 of its near-perfect conical form. 20 years later a new dome is forming within the crater

Mount Rainier is an active stratovolcano and the highest peak in the Cascade Range in
      Pierce County, Washington, located 54 miles (87 km) southeast of Seattle
