intermittent hemoptysis, fatigue, and weight loss. Sputum smears were 4+ positive for acid-fast bacilli,

weight loss. He had been treated many years earlier for tuberculosis. His respiratory specimens were
acid-fast bacilli smear negative, but he had repeatedly positive sputum cultures for M. chelonae.
