2. Why Himalaya ?
• Global Wines Direct Ltd was established in 2009, offering consultancy and sale
services to food and drink producers, selling their products, especially wines and
spirits into the retail and on-trade businesses, it was a very competitive market.
Selling drinks to these sectors was quite tough as there was not really anything
special in the market that could offer a niche status, so I started looking at all sectors
and doing extensive research, looking at individually each trade sector, after my
complete research I found that in the Asian restaurant market there was no Asian
wine product on the drinks menu sold as house wine in the UK, however there
where some wines from India, Thailand and other eastern Asia countries, I found
these wines where over priced and the quality not so wonderful, they where sold as
medium entry level wines, this is where I establish that we can develop a good Brand
quality house wine to complement Asian dishes right across the UK and rest of the
World, a brand name everyone would recognise to be associated with Asian dishes ,
why we name it Himalaya, if you look at the map the countries surrounding
Himalayas are Nepal, India and China, if you look at the Asian Restaurants market
around the World overall majority there are more than any other sector, this is why
we produced and launch Himalaya wines, we produced our wines from La Rioja,
Spain because we wanted a good quality wine with a very balance price to target
house wines as this is very much a large volume base, Himalaya wines in time will be
recognise as the wines to be associated with Asian dishes right across the World.
