1. Question 3: What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and why?
2. RWD Magazine’s creators; Rewind Creative Media LTD would be large distributors of
my magazine. They are a prime example of the grime genre. RWD Magazine became a
well known name in UK underground urban music circles in mid to late 2003. This
coincided with the rise of the grime genre. It is a British based; is good as so is grime
music so it will be easier to distribute to my target audience. It also features Music,
Style, Sport, Gaming, Film, Technology, News, interviews and charts on hip hop,
Grime, Dubstep and RnB. It is released monthly, distributing 98,300 copies each time
and is ABC certified. It's considered the largest magazine on youth music and lifestyle
in the United Kingdom so I would get my magazine to a larger target audience.
3. The aim of our magazine is to primarily inform clubbers and students in the U.K of
their alternative options when deciding to chose music events to go to (clubs, raves
concerts). This is important as grime is heard a lot in clubs, raves and parties so will be
a god way to promote my magazine to a wider audience. Also this magazine doesn’t
specifically appeal to the grim genre it also caters for other underground genres such
as Funky which incorporates some of the grime genre into it. As a result it may bring in
other readers that may not have a huge interest in the grime genre but a small one
encouraging them to purchase my magazine.
4. Flavour Magazine is a free bi-monthly urban entertainment and arts magazine in the
United Kingdom. The publication targets men and women 18–34. It presents
interviews and discussions on people in music, art, TV, film, beauty and fashion. My
magazine does a similar thing; not limiting it to specifically a music magazine. As
Flavour has a larger female fan base than male this will hep distribute my music
magazine among the gender specific without having to alter aspect of the genre so
much.
