Letter of Recommendation
I have known Lehel Simon for about 6 years now. He has been a regular participant at the
Language, Ideology, Media conferences organized by the Gender Studies Research Group of
Szeged University’s English Department. I also had the chance to meet him at several other
Hungarian academic events related to cutting-edge dilemmas of relatively novel fields of
humanities such as gender-, queer-, feminist-, body-, or disability- studies, where he gave
indubitably impressive papers rich in thought-provoking ideas. Lehel Simon is an ambitious
young scholar and a pioneer in an exciting interdisciplinary research field that undertakes to
explore the anthropological psychology of sexual alterity by combining methodologies of
various disciplines ranging from neurobiology to art history. I am looking forward to reading
his dissertation on this theme, as well as to learning about the results of his other singular
project that outlines an unconventional, dynamic approach to special education with the aim
to open up new perspectives in the making of therapeutical models.
