A large food manufacturer approached ERIKS regarding an issue with their steam boiler. The
transportation of steam is a vital part of the production process and a significant amount of heat
energy was lost throughout the food production line.
In addition, to the financial losses incurred by the customer, there are numerous health and safety
risks and a solution was needed urgently from ERIKS.
SOLUTION
After examining the food manufacturers steam boiler, ERIKS suggested a steam audit which
identifies any abnormal high temperatures across the facility. It is a quick non-disruptive
inspection and ERIKS not only can present all exposed areas, but can point out potential cost
saving.
Following the inspection it was found that the pipework was causing the heat loss and increased
energy consumption. A report was produced highlighting all areas within the steam boiler and
pipework with inadequate insulation.
Working with partner supplier Enersol Flomar, a bespoke jacket insulation was recommended
and installed within a two weeks period with no interruption to production. The customer repaired
and replaced the areas suggested by ERIKS, with a cost saving of £13,500 annually.
