2. Tips for a Smooth Shift!
As in life, there will be days where no matter
how hard we plan and prioritize, things will
sometimes happen that are out of our control.
In the business of hospitality it is up to us to be
able to react with focus on the situations at
hand. Here are a few tips on how to help
manage your time efficiently!
3. • Create a plan
Consult with your partner early
• PRIORITIZE
Identify the most important tasks (hint; our
guests are always our first priority.)
• Delegate/Ask for help
4. • Batch similar tasks together
If someone needs something check with all of
your tables to see if they need anything.
• Have a sense of urgency but don’t look
rushed
• Politely know when to cut off a
conversation when you need to
5. • Write orders in short hand abbreviations
Ultimate Feast (ie; Ult Fst)
Shrimp Trio (ie; Sh Trio)
Use what works best for you
• Full hands in! Full hands out!
• Carry the Bill
• Pay it forward!!
6. Scenario 1
Table 30’s sodas are almost empty and you
have drinks ready at the bar. You also have
table 54’s food up in the window and table
30 needs their food wrapped to go.
7. Scenario 2
You are chatting with a world war 2 veteran at
table 3 when you notice you have been double
sat with a family of 5 with 2 small children and a
single. Meanwhile, table 6 is in a rush and
needs their check immediately.
