Session Description: Most organizations have a competency model that includes the critical behaviors necessary for success in that culture. At Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), they are no different. With a diverse and multidisciplinary population whose priorities encompass national security, technology and engineering innovation, and scientific computing, how do you implement leadership competencies that need to be consistent across the institution, yet flexible enough to meet the needs of the individual organizations? LLNL did this by engaging with Skillsoft’s Professional Services Group to map Skillsoft content to organization competencies.
Session Objectives:
During this session LLNL will share:
• That it takes minimal technical skills to use the KnowledgeCenter Editor to brand the SLA tracks to make them relevant to their organization.
• By following a template system, they will show how portals can be replicated to meet the needs of individual organizations. They will also provide actionable steps to embedding the SLA into their own portals.
• Tips for successful implementation of a competency knowledge center in their own organization or business unit.

True customization typically applies to software packages and having to pay a
vendor to make code changes to the package to meet your specific needs.
Configuration implies no code changes and changes can be performed by you.
For our purposes, Customization refers to building
a competency knowledge center (CKC) to meet
the individual needs of an organization. LLNL
builds these custom CKC’s.
Configuration refers to changing the behavior of a
feature in a SLA Track. LLNL configures Skillsoft
SLA tracks and embeds them in their CKC’s.
