2. What is your age?
The responses to this question
show that my target audiences age
spans late teens ‘17-19’ and no one
who took the survey was over 20
Suggesting I should target my
magazine at a less mature
audience, yet not too young as
although some responses were 14-
16 the majority were older. Although this could also mean that I
Did not put my survey out to a large/

Category.
3. What is your favourite genre of music?
Not surprisingly the responses to
this question show that pop/RnB
are the most popular genre of
music within the age group of my
target audience. Perhaps as they
are constantly played on national
radio stations, with less popular
genres such as country/soul only
being available on certain
specialist stations.
Rap/Hip-Hop and Reggae/Ska
received some appreciation yet
still lacked the votes Pop/RnB
got. Prompting me to question
whether if a magazine containing
these genres would perform
worse than a pop magazine.
The genre I am going to
choose for my magazine –
Indie- performed slightly
worse than Reggae/Ska and
Rap/Hip-Hop yet still received
a response, does this mean a
magazine of this genre will
perform worse? I am still
going to base my magazine
on this genre as regardless of
this survey I know that Indie
music is a very popular genre
amongst the age of my target
audience.
4. How often should a music magazine be released?
It is evident from the
responses to this question my
target audience definitely
believe a magazine should be
released monthly. Implying
that due to their age they may
not be able to afford to buy a
magazine weekly, as most will
not have a full time job at 17-
19.
Having the magazine released
annually however appeared to
be too much of a gap between
each issue and people may
loose interest.
Once a month seems to be the

5. Would you rather there be more text or imagery?
How people responded to this
Question shocked me the most
as the votes show that my
target audience care more
about the images in a
magazine rather than the
actual relevant information and
articles.
Perhaps as we live in a culture
where people care lots about
their image, people look to
magazines such as music ones
to find new styles and trends in
their idols.
Yet most people were neutral
about the question, implying that
there is still some interest in the
text but imagery is still important.
6. How much would you be willing to pay for a magazine?
Linking to the responses for
question 3, this tells me even
more about the financial status of
my target audience. The majority
of the responses show £2-3 is the
most reasonable price for a
magazine. Yet this may just be
the view of my target audience as
they don’t have much to spend.
Not one person said they would
pay over £6 for a magazine
although there are many
magazines that do charge over
this, although these may be ones
that are targeted at older more
financially capable customers.
Minimum responses for £1
or less were given, as
people must understand
that the magazine would
still have to turn a profit.
7. What features of music magazines do you prefer?
Through the responses to this
question I am starting to see a
pattern, my target audience seem to
take a more interactive approach
towards music. As the majority of
people said they prefer gig guides as
a feature of music magazines,
implying they like taking active
interest in bands and artists.
The answers to this question
also strengthen the ideas put
forth by those to question 4,
that people regard the actual
relevant information in the
magazines as less important, as
‘News’ received the least votes.
