1. Target Audience Data
To determine our target audience, we analysed data from the UK Film Council. We looked at
which genre the population, shown in the graphs, said they enjoy watching, their ages and
genders and also their favourite genres.
After analysing data on film audiences from the UK
Film Council, it is clear that the action genre is very
popular with 50% of the general public saying they
enjoy action films.
Looking at demographics, it appears that we should be mainly aiming our product at mainly
males in general but especially males over 35. Although it is also popular in females under
35. Our primary audience will be males over 35 and our secondary audience will be women
under 35.
2. Target Audience Data
This graph shows that the genre action is
the fourth favourite genre of the
representative sample used. It is clear that
action is quite popular with 20% of the
general public saying it is their favourite,
showing our audience will be mainstream.
Looking at the full breakdown of demographics, it shows that action films are mainly
favoured in males under 35; also in terms of social class action films are more favoured in
C2DE with occupations such as students, manual workers, owners of small businesses and
people who are unemployed. After looking at this data, we should be mainly aiming our
product at males under 35 with the social class of C2DE
3. Target Audience Data
After looking at the Box Office Mojo website I have found the following information
After its release in the USA last week, the new James Bond film is #1 movie of last weekend.
(Box Office Mojo website).
This table shows the
top 10 grossing films of 2012, the top 4 being action films, including Marvel's The Avengers,
The Dark Knight Rises, The Hunger Games and The Amazing Spider-Man. These statistics
show that action films are very popular and helped us make our decision on doing an action
film.
