Why did we create it?
We created the Livewello Emergency Health Card for a variety of personal reasons:
In 2003, my mother was found unconscious after a seizure in front of the hospital where she worked
as a nurse. The E.R Staff had no clue what happened, who she was or any health issues she may
have had. It took the U.K authorities a long time to locate me and my family. In that time, it was too late
for any of us to offer any information that would improve her outcome. By the time I arrived at her
bedside, I had to switch off her life support machine.
While making funeral arrangements, I vowed to myself that I would find a suitable solution for people
like my mother.The Livewello card allows emergency services send a text message directly to the
Card holder's emergency contacts. This and any other feature of this card can be disabled at anytime
by the card holder. This means that the card holder has the ability to choose which information is
displayed on their Emergency Web page.
Another reason we built this tool is that we have a son who lives with Autism, multiple Allergies and a
seizure disorder. He also does not verbally communicate and often wanders away. We put his card in
his pocket and leave one at the school so that anyone who has questions can simply access his
information using the Card: The Livewello Emergency card "speaks" for him.
Times when I have escorted him to the ER have left me so distressed that I have had to rely on the
card to convey accurate information about him to the ER Staff.
Each time a card holder's account is accessed, they receive an email notification.
Finally, over the years, we watched as this country experienced several natural disasters that put the
vulnerable people like the elderly and the chronically ill at a huge disadvantage.
During Hurricane Katrina, for example, Hospitals, Nursing homes and FEMA had trouble helping

2. people figure out their medications and so much more because records were destroyed. The Health
Access card system allows users to store any PDF documents. For example Assessments, Test
results, Birth certificates, Living Wills, Advance directives like DNR and much more. When natural
disasters occur, this card can help relief agencies get people who have it, back on track quickly. It can
store health and personal documents if they choose.
This information can make a huge difference in getting a person's life back together quickly.
Who needs it?
It is still baffling to me that this tool is not already available to everyone.
I visualize this Emergency Card as something everyone should carry, especially vulnerable people:
­­Anyone with chronic medical conditions such as seizures, heart conditions, diabetes,
neurological disorders etc.
­­Anyone with communication difficulty or memory impairment.
­­People living with complicated medical conditions, multiple allergies or medications too
numerous to list or remember.
­­Individuals whose medical information changes from time to time.
­­Those who prefer not to wear medical ID bracelets or necklaces.
­­Anyone who may have difficulty explaining their medical issues
­­People in the aging population,
­­People who need easily accessible document storage for their important documents.
­­Children with health issues who attend school.
­­Foster Children and People living in Care Facilities
­­Intellectually challenged or Special Needs people
­­People at risk of wandering away or going missing
­­ people geographically located in the path of natural disasters
