3. Q1 :- What is being talked about here?
• Brazil goalkeeper Júlio César compared it to a "supermarket" ball that favored
strikers and worked against goalkeepers.
• Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon said, "The new model is absolutely
inadequate, and I think it's shameful letting play such an important
competition, where a lot of champions take part, with a ball like this.”
• Brazilian striker Luis Fabiano called the ball "supernatural", as it unpredictably
changed direction when traveling through the air.
• Brazilian striker Robinho stated, "For sure the guy who designed this ball
never played football.”

8. Q 3: -In the recently concluded FIFA World Cup, in a certain Group E match between Serbia
and Switzerland, the latter ended up winning the game with a 2-1 scoreline, but amidst a
controversial situation.
Both the goal scorers of the night for the Swiss, X & Y, made a gesture during the
celebrations which mirrored a specific entity, thus causing the controversy. FIFA even opened
an investigation over a potential breach of their political and offensive messages regulation,
which could also have resulted in a 2- match ban for both the players. The celebrations were
connected to the backgrounds of the two players celebrating.

• On 2nd November 2013, when Stoke City was hosting Southampton in a Premier
League game, X attempted clearance after the ball was passed to him seconds after
the game kicked off. In windy conditions at the Britannia Stadium, the ball bounced
outside the Southampton penalty box and flew over Artur Boruc and into the net.
• The Guinness book of world records recognized the 91.9-metre strike as the longest
goal scored in football.
• Despite scoring for the first time in his career, X didn’t celebrate his goal as he said
he felt a bit bad for Boruc. "It is a long ball that got caught in the wind, and it took a

the National League, the fifth tier of English football. The club re-laid their pitch

3G artificial turf and since has contested matches with Maidstone United, who
use a 3G pitch at the Gallagher Stadium and also happen to be a rival club.
• This fixture, however, has been given the name of ‘__ ________,’ which is also a
pun on one of the most famous derbies in the world of football. FITB

In his entire managerial career X was fired only once; Scottish club St. Mirren have
the distinction of being the club that fired him.
The official version is that he was sacked for various breaches of contract including
unauthorized payments to players. After he was sacked by St. Mirren, he took them to
an industrial tribunal and was counter-accused of intimidating behavior towards his
office secretary because he wanted players to get some expenses tax free.
X reportedly blanked her for six weeks, confiscated her keys and communicated only
through a 17-year-old secretarial assistant. The tribunal concluded that X was
"particularly petty" and "immature."

When Sutton United, a small team from the fifth tier of English football, met
Arsenal for an FA Cup fifth-round match in 2017, one of the Sutton players was
singled out for the pregame press, and this was a certain Wayne Shaw, known
as much for his girth as his talent.
His team referred to him as the ‘Roly-Poly Goalie.’ He is 6’2, 46 years of age
and weighs around 332 pounds. He was the backup goalie for the Sutton team
which played against Arsenal.
However, he was in the news for a certain other activity which he did during the
match causing FA to investigate a possible breach of a rule.

they tuned in over the past decade and a half or so.

X was a Colombian footballer who played as a defender. He played for BSC Young Boys,
Atlético Nacional, and the national team. Nicknamed The Gentleman, he was known for his
clean style of play and calmness on the pitch.
He was murdered in the aftermath of the 1994 FIFA World Cup, reportedly as retaliation for
having scored an own goal which contributed to the team's elimination from the tournament.
His murder tarnished the image of the country internationally. X himself had worked to promote
a more positive image of Colombia, earning acclaim in the country. In 2013, then-coach
Francisco Maturana denied that X’s murder had any connection to football or the World Cup, but
rather was due to his being "in the wrong place at the wrong time" at a violent time in Colombia's
history.

Billy Wingrove is a _________ footballer and a former professional footballer. Wingrove
comes from a footballing family. His father played for Tottenham Hotspur, and his cousin
played for Arsenal.
He became the first __________ to be signed up as a professional "Football __________"
by the Tottenham Hotspur. Wingrove displayed and taught his tricks and skills for
Tottenham's coaching in the community schemes, corporate sponsors and on the pitch for
half-time and pre-match entertainment for Premier League games. He has also featured in
various promotions for brands such as Coca-Cola, O2, Barclaycard, Disney and Sky Sports.
After performing at the 2010 FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony, Wingrove and close friend Jeremy
Lynch decided to begin performing together as a double act.

plays for the team Penang FA.
• He was a member of and played for other clubs such as T-Team, Kuala
Terengganu, Terengganu, and Kelantan.
• In recent years, he became the first Asian player to achieve a certain feat.

• Sergio Javier Goycochea is an Argentine former football goalkeeper and male model. He is
best known for helping his country reach the 1990 FIFA World Cup Final with his penalty
kick saves.
• In the following Guardian interview excerpt, he talks about a rather odd superstition which
he developed.., “You know, by the rules of the game, until the match finishes you cannot
abandon the field. And if you have any necessary _____ urges, you have to go on the
ground. So that is what happened against Yugoslavia [in the 1990 World Cup quarter-
finals]. At the end of the game, I had it very severely, so I had no choice. But we won, so
then when the semi-final against Italy went to penalties, I did it again - and it worked! So
from that moment on, I did it before every shoot-out. It was my lucky charm.

• After a recent ‘upset’ in the Champions League, something which might have
broken the hearts of some people in this room, the following words were used,
“the Greek God in ____... the unthinkable unfolds before our eyes……….
“'It's a Greek from Mount Olympus, who has come to the Seven Hills of ____
and pulled off miracle!”
