1. Louis Lofredo, founder and CEO of Mandala Records, is celebrating his 50th
year on
January 1, 2015 as an independent record label. Mandala as a company now a
worldwide firm has expanded into music business consulting, music production &
publishing, DVD, film development, artist career development, and artist management.
Lou’s career debut in 1965 with Atlantic Records, established prominence for Mandala
Records in the music publishing areas with major artists and composers and long-
standing affiliations with most of the major record labels worldwide.
A seasoned professional and forerunner in the music industry, Lou has been very
successful with recording artists such as Ben E. King (and many other artists, master
list on request) besides leading the industry in the introduction of ringtones on iTunes
with K-Tel digital platforms on iTunes.
Lou’s career includes many major successes with recording and music publishing
companies such as Capital Records, RCA Records, Arista Records, Hughes Leisure
Group (The Music Factory), and Passport productions.
In 1973 Lou began recording 900 hits songs by the original artists with original top ten
hits (with many other artists, master list on request) continued production of top 10 hits
songs for K-tel records in Nashville.
Lou also recorded another 200 hit songs with original artists in his recording studio
(“Sound Heights”) in Brooklyn New York until 2002.
Lou has experience in every aspect of the music media industry, having owned and
managed recording studios, produced and managed recording artists, written and
published songs, and served as consultant to major media industry companies, and
creating DVD biographies of major artists in the music industry.
Louis entered the DVD production field of major music personalities with his idea’s in
association with Passport productions, creating “Un Authorized Biographies” of Major
recording artists beginning 2003 to 2006, with 5 hours of video DVD programs of the
Beatles; “A Long and Winding Road”, 5 hours on the Rolling Stones; video DVD
programs “Just for the Record”, 16 hours on video DVD programs Elvis Presley;“ The
Definitive Collection”, as well as “Becoming Queen; ”, A to Zeppellin; and Jimmy
Hendrix; “The Uncut Story”.
During 2006 to 2007 Louis handled distribution throughout the EU of David Bowie;
“Sound & Vision” DVD in association with Black Hill Records & Fox productions.
Distribution in EU of the Blues; Brothers “The Best of the Blues Brothers” DVD. Electric
Light Orchestra part 2 “Access All Areas” DVD in EU except UK. The Knack; “Getting
The Knack” DVD. The Beach Boys; “Surfing USA” DVD. Bruce Lee; “The Immortal
Dragon” DVD. Kiss; “The Lost Concert 1976” DVD in EU except UK.
