Physical Education is an integral part of educational program designed to promote optimum development of the individual, physically, socially, emotionally, and mentally through total body movement in the performance of properly selected physical activities. The word physical refers to the bodily characteristics such as physical strength, physical development, physical health, and physical appearance. It refers to the body as contrasted to the mind.

What is Physical Fitness? ● Physical ● Mental ● Emotional ● Social ● Spiritual Physical fitness refers to the ability of your body systems to work together efficiently to allow you to be healthy and perform activities of daily living. Physical Fitness testing is always an important component of physical education. It is so significant that it has been discussed and conducted since you were in elementary years. Physical fitness means many things to different people. Some assume that being physically means being muscular and being able to lift heavy weights.
  4. 4. Physical Fit individual A physically fit person is able to perform schoolwork, meet home responsibilities, and still have enough energy to enjoy sport and other leisure activities. A fit person can respond effectively to normal life situations, such as raking leaves at home, stocking shelves at a part-time job, and marching in the band at school.

It is all about being better than you used to be. ● Physical fitness is a combination of qualities that enable a person well in vigorous physical activities. ● The body of human is framed in such a way that it can jump, climb, bend, stretch and do more tedious work. The human body becomes more stronger as it exerts more and muscles involvement matters a lot in shaping it. Exercise helps in improving our health and builds up our energy and stamina.
  7. 7. Importance and Values of Physical Fitness Physical fitness is a very vital part of our daily life. Everyone, children, adolescents, and adults of all ages, needs regular physical activity. Physical activity promotes good health, and you should stay active throughout all stages of your life regardless of your body type or BMI. Physical Fitness allows an individual to boost his immune system to fight common diseases and illnesses.

Exercise Types ● Cardiovascular/aerobic exercise - It is the exercise to availability of oxygen due to the physical activity in other words Cardiovascular exercise involves fitness relates to the ability of the circulatory and respiratory systems to supply oxygen during sustained physical activity. It is also referred to as cardiovascular endurance, aerobic fitness and cardio-respiratory fitness. ● Anaerobic exercise - is an intense exercise that requires the body to use other sources of energy besides oxygen to fuel the muscles. It promotes strength, speed, power, and muscle mass.

Exercise Types ● Joint flexibility - Flexibility is the components of physical fitness and this joint Flexibility is a health-related component of physical fitness that refers to the range of motion available at a joint, such as your knees or shoulders. ● Muscular strength - relates to your ability to move and lift objects. It’s measured by how much force you can exert and how much weight you can lift for a short period of time. ● Muscular endurance - refers to the ability of a muscle to sustain repeated contractions against resistance for an extended period.
