- Every single one of you guys in this room now is lucky. Extremely lucky. You have access to open platforms that are not only there, but they’re inviting you to tap into their power & resources to innovate. Facebook is lending you the open graph to come up with ideas that are based on how much information the social network has. If someone 5 years ago came up with the idea of….etc.. WOW wowwow stop!.. But today, with help of foursquare API, Donteat.at can do that for youHere are some companies that started & thrived by adding value to existing platforms
- You’ve always been able to buy credits for your Farmville to give your pink pigs a shower…
- That market today is equal to 1.4 billion dollars.. You enter a credit card to buy credits today. Operator billing means you don’t need to do that anymore. You click/swipe a button and the amount is deducted from your du/Etisalat bill.
- We go to a restaurant to eat, being Arab we argue about who pays for 30 minutes. I end up winning.. 30 minutes later I get a notification telling me 400 facebook credits were transferred to me..
- Come across a cool camera at Samsung.. Scan it, compare prices & review with some friends who even bought the same camera or brand.. Then purchase with facebook credits (at the store).
- The point I’m trying to make is, don’t break your head trying to be original. Keep your ear on the ground & develop ideas that either address a pain in the way we do things or deliver value to your target audience.

Flipboard, Zite and Pulse have redefined how news is aggregated and read in the mobile era. LevelUp and Dwolla are attempting to create mobile-first payment infrastructures from the local level. Lookout is a unique security company that focuses on mobile, and Dolphin is a major mobile-only browser.
- To sum this one up, I’m not saying ignore desktop access. Just think before you decide how your potential audience will interact & benefit from your idea, then decide how to start.
- I’ve seen this quite a few times with tech startups…
- How many female facebook users they think there is in KSA.. There’s 1 million in UAE. ~ 7 million… how about 30 million?
- They had a poll asking women if they were happy with the current design, over 80% said don’t change a thing.
- So many variables to factor in: cost of dev, talent availability, ease of updation, support by store, device penetration, device owner profile, trend across the board …etc.
