3. Our C.T.U. - SINGLE-FAMILY TELESCOPIC ENCLOSURES have
been developed in accordance with four fundamental
requirements: ELEGANCE, TECHNIQUE, QUALITY and COST
with the object of achieving the recognition of the major
number of actual and future users:
The ELEGANCE that distinguishes them is the fruit of exhaustive industrial
design work.
The TECHNIQUE used is the result of the influence carried over from our
engineering applied to the large automatic constructions; our
CUSTOMIZED RETRACTABLE ENCLOSURES.
Its singular level of QUALITY is made
evident by the materials and treatments
which we describe in the structure,
surface treatment, panels, seals and
fittings, and motorization chapters.
The good result of the final COST of the
product follows a complete ergonomic study in the whole process
of development, without sacrificing its other genuine qualities: air
and water tightness, minimum maintenance and total reliability.
Our projects are our better guarantor, our clients our support.

4. All the profiles used are fabricated with direct
extrusion aluminium of 6063 quality and post
heat treatment that gives it an excellent
hardness. All in accordance with the actual
regulations. In the assembly of all the parts,
diverse stainless steel joining pieces and nuts
and bolts of an adequate quality are used.

5. STRUCTURE
Configuration
Basically two configurations exist:
In the FREE STANDING CONFIGURATION, the enclosure stands freely on
both sides on the existing pavement and its movement is obtained
directly on it without rails.
In the LEAN-TO CONFIGURATION the enclosure stands on the
pavement on the one side while it leans directly on the resistant wall
and is guided by an aesthetically hidden guide profile that permits a
smooth functioning.
5
It is possible to obtain other
configurations through
customized projects to cater for
the users needs.
In both configurations it is
possible to separate and open the
adjacent modules and thus better
its versatility (good ventilation,
user transit, moving of
large furniture, etc. )
6. The wheels destined to support the weight of the enclosure and allow its movement are
made of polyamide with incorporated bearings to obtain the movement with minimum
effort. All are installed on rust-proof axles.
The auto-guidance of the enclosure during the opening and closing movement is
achieved by means of directional rollers of exclusive MAPERGLAS design constructed in
polyamide, with rust-proof axle and fixing supports. The anchoring of the tilting-sliding

façade, both in its vertical position and ventilation position is carried
out by means of stainless steel pins on a lacquered aluminium chassis.
The fixing of the enclosure to the floor, in its closed and open
positions, is done by means of easy to use stainless steel threaded
handles. Threaded stainless steel sleeves are installed with special
injectable chemical adhesive into the ground, and sit flush to the floor
for the handles to be secured into.
7. With respect to the wind actions the structure has been
designed to support a dynamic pressure of 102km/h in
normal position to it and with all its openings
completely closed.
With respect to the snow, the structure can support
snow loads in function with the width of the enclosure
with a minimum of 40 Kp/m2.
In both cases the future user can consult with our
technical department the load values that the enclosure
will be able to support in the location in which the
installation is foreseen to be installed.

8. The entire aluminium structure will present a protection against corrosion
obtained by industrialized methods.
The powder-coating protection is obtained, previously de-greasing and
chroming the entire surface, with the application of polyester or epoxy dust
powder, which is then heated to fuse into a protective layer. The total thickness
of the coating oscillates between 65 and 85 microns.
The anodized protection requires pre and post degreasing chemical satin, prior
to the electrolytic process that will provide a ultimate protection. The total
thickness of the coating remain around 25 microns.
Upon request it is also possible to timber coat our enclosures.
TREATMENT OF SURFACES
8
9. We usually use two different concepts of materials according to the area of implementation.
ON THE ROOF: The material used will be colourless, translucent, multi-wall polycarbonate, starting at 8 mm thick up to 16 mm
It is however in this section possible to combine spaces with
acrylic (clear vision) and spaces with multi-wall polycarbonate
(deformed vision) whether it be for an aesthetic or intimate
aspect. Optionally, it is possible to install other types of materials
(acrylic for tanning, compact polycarbonate, laminated safety
glass, double insulated glass, sandwich panel, etc.)

thick for greater heat retention. It possesses a
good capacity of retaining the interior
atmosphere temperature presenting an
excellent behavior against hail and it deforms
the exterior vision.
ON THE SIDES AND FACADES:
The material used will be colourless,
transparent, 4mm thick compact acrylic. It
permits a perfect exterior vision and has a
good resistance to breakage without
splintering thus avoiding the risk of accident.
10. It is of optional implementation although
very recommendable.
Its design permits a triple objective:
Makes it possible to avoid obstacles up
to a height of 0,95 m. (pool ladders,
tables, chairs, loungers, ornamental
plants, etc.)
The facade can slide to the far end of its
own module so that once its completely
folded in the “SUMMER” position, a sun-
shade with multiple possibilities can be
taken advantage of.
With the facade in the closed position,
it is possible to incline it outwardly to
obtain a controlled ventilation in the mid-
season periods.
The tilting and sliding of the façade is
achieved by means of mechanisms of
exclusive MAPERGLAS design, which
makes a smooth and effortless
movement possible.

11. PANELS, SEALS AND FITTINGS
Facade door
This is a traditional sliding door constructed with MAPERGLAS aluminium
profiles and felt seals to achieve the necessary air tightness. Normally it is
presented as a single door, although the possibility of providing a double door
opening to the left and right is available.
This door is integrated in any facade whether it be fixed or tilting and is
equipped with a rust-proof lock. The movement is obtained by means of nylon
wheels equipped with rust-proof sleeves which run on an aluminium rail
integrated in the structure.
This sliding door offers the possibility of
being adapted to the lateral profile of
any of the modules. It is contained in a
vertical and inclined plane and is
therefore a sliding angled door.
As with the facade door it is possible to
supply it equipped with a double door.
All the complements are the same as
with the facade door.

12. PANELS, SEALS AND FITTINGS
Air-tightness In order to maintain the interior atmosphere temperature with
minimum loss, MAPERGLAS has designed several elastic gaskets of
adequate shapes and sizes for each space to be sealed (overlaps
between modules, pavement perimeter, tilting facade, etc.)
ensuring an air-tightness of 97% of the total interchange surface.
For the manufacturing of the gaskets, MAPERGLAS has chosen
EPDM rubber of a special composition suitable to be exposed to
the solar radiation, extreme temperatures and atmospheres with a
high content of chlorine in suspension.12
13. Despite the fact that our C.T.U. TELESCOPIC ENCLOSURES are of a really smooth movement (due to the bearings
which are incorporated in the wheels) the possibility of motorization to totally eliminate the human effort of traction
exists. In this case it will be
necessary to lay rails on the
pavement for the correct
sliding of the enclosure.
Depending on the size and
configuration of the enclosure
one or two motor units will be
necessary to obtain the
required movement.
The power source is obtained
by means of photoelectric
cells of low voltage and
storage battery. It is also
possible to supply the unit
with a conventional power.

14. SPECIAL PROJECTS
MAPERGLAS has the capacity of
developing , on order, special
projects and constructions using
the profile design that
distinguishes our C.T.U. -SINGLE-
FAMILY TELESCOPIC ENCLOSURES
adapting them to the specific
requirements of the user,
including supplying them with
uniform or variable speed
automatic movement.
Definitively, MAPERGLAS is
capable of responding to the most
singular projects which the client
may need.
