2. 2 PROPERTIES OF MATTER: MASS AND VOLUME
MASS
The quantity of matter that an object has.
It is measured in KILOGRAMES
You can use a BALANCE
VOLUME
The space that an object occupies
It is measured in LITRES
You can use a GRADUATED RECIPIENT
3. PROPERTIES OF MATTER
Hardness – The diamond is very hard. It is difficult to scratch
Fragility – The glass is fragil. (glass of water). It is very easy to break.
Resistance – The wood and the iron are resistant materials. It is difficult to break.
Conductor – Metal is conductor. It transports the heat.
Non – conductor – Wood is non conductor. It doesn’t transport the heat.
Elasticity - A hairband is elastic. It can be deformed, and then recover the initial position.
Transparence – The glass is transparent. (the window). You can look through the window.
Density – relation between mass and volumen. The water has more density than the oil
