Research
Social research is the combination of
three words. “Social” means society
“Re” means again and again and
“Search” means to discover, to find and
to investigate.
Social research is a procedure to
investigate the social problems and
issues and also it helps us to find the
causes and give solution for problems
which are faced by society.
Social research is a method used by social
scientists and researchers to learn about people
and societies.
Social research works to answer many of the
questions we have about human behavior. Through
scientific study, social research seeks to
understand the how and why of human behavior.
Meaning of Social
Research
According to Pauline V. Young, “social research is a systematic
method of exploring, analyzing and conceptualizing social life in
order to extend, correct, or verify knowledge, whether that
knowledge aids in the construction of a theory or in the practice of
an art.”
Stating it still differently, social research seeks to find explanations
to unexplained social phenomena to clarify the doubtful and correct
the misconceived fact of social life.
According to Wallace and Wallace, “Sociological research refers
to the structural observation of social behavior.”

problems.
4.To develop theories: Many social scientists have presented their
theories through social research. All social psychological, and environmental
theories had been dependent on social research.
5.Increase knowledge: Social research is also consider as source of
knowledge increase. It increases the knowledge of human being.

business firms and commercial establishments can get lot of
information and clues about their endeavors in society.

dynamic nature of social phenomena, unpredictability, problems of
inter-disciplinary research etc.

Research
Social research is a systematic process of gathering
data and knowledge about any social phenomena
and problem. It is very useful for identifying the
causes and solutions of social, psychological,
environmental and behavioral problems. In short it
is a acritical and continuous process of discovery
and finding facts.
