3. It is the solution of the problem possessed by
electric energy generation from fossil
sources.
It was conceived by an Italian researcher
MASSIMO IPPOLITO.
4. The first design of KITEGEN is a small scale
prototype.
The electric actuators which hold the kite
lines are fixed with respect to the ground.
5. The KSU is the unit that allows to
automatically piloting a power kite.
the kite steering unit, which includes the
electric drives, the drums, and all of the
hardware needed to control a single kite.
6. The KiteGen project has designed and
simulated a small-scale prototype ,The two
kite lines are rolled around two drums and
linked to two electric drives, which are fixed
to the ground.
Energy is collected when the wind force on
the kite unrolls the lines, and the electric
drives act as generators due to the rotation
of the drums.
7.
8. Multiple unit kites
A multiple unit kite may be made of a single
wing, several wings, or several sub-kite units
arranged as trains, chains, coterie, single-
branching, multiple-branching, arch-kite,
"ladder" mill dynamic kite-chain, or
combinations of these patterns.
9. Multiple pilot
Large kite systems may require more than one
pilot. In a team like the "Flying Squad" of
nine kite pilots each person might fly his own
sub-kite while, as a team, its kites form a
unified display. One pilot may simultaneously
fly several kites; the pilot with several kites
forms one kite system of two, three or more
kites in the system.
10. Kites fly higher therefore have more consistent
and cleaner wind.
Many people find wind farms an interesting
feature of the landscape.
The wind is free and with modern technology it
can be captured efficiently.
Wind turbines have a role to play in both the
developed and third world.
Once the wind turbine is built the energy it
produces does not cause green house gases or
other pollutants.
11. The strength of the wind is not constant and it varies from
zero to storm force. This means that wind turbines do not
produce the same amount of electricity all the time. There
will be times when they produce no electricity at all.
Many people feel that the countryside should be left
untouched, without these large structures being built. The
landscape should left in its natural form for everyone to
enjoy
Wind turbines are noisy. Each one can generate the same
level of noise as a family car travelling at 70 mph
Many people see large wind turbines as unsightly structures
and not pleasant or interesting to look at. They disfigure the
countryside and are generally ugly
12. Trading torque for tension
Pumping
Changing tacks
Blowing in the wind
13. It is a new class of wind energy
generators able to overcome the main
limitations of the present Aeolian technology
based on wind mills.
