When you think digital marketing, it may seem simple enough. Get yourself
a website, make it look nice and you’re good to go, right? Wrong! There are
several strands to digital marketing and each of them needs equal care and
attention in order to maximize your output and engagement. There are
countless myths surrounding digital marketing do’s and don’ts. The
important thing to remember is that digital marketing, though still in its
infancy, is becoming less of a luxury and more of a necessity as the shift
towards digital expands. We’ve taken a look at some of the most common
myths out there
Myth #1 : Web Directories are Harmful Now a Day
As a digital marketer, we have heard the word
many times that……….
“Google Does Not Prefer Directory Submissions “
It will harm your website ranking.
The practice has started recently
and many online players already
have started to ignore directory
submissions.
But fortunately, the truth is the
another Side of the COIN.
What is The Other Side of The Coin ????
• Do not submit your site to the wrong category.
• Submit your site to the most accurate sub
category.
• Do not spam a directory.
• Do not provide wrong physical address or blog
stats.
• Do not prefer submitting to a site that requires
banners on your site.
Myth #2 : Don't Get Links Too Fast Or You'll Get Penalized
Faster Link Building Can Harm Your Website
and Google Will Penalize Your Website
If you are doing sketchy, grey hat/black hat link building with your private networks, your link
buys, and all these kinds of things, yeah, it's probably the case that if you get them too fast then
Google will catch you definitely and you will be penalized. So long as your links are coming from
good places, don't worry about the pace of them.

Myth #3 : Digital Marketing is Only for Large Businesses
Contrary to what many small business
owners believe, digital marketing is just
for large businesses with a large
marketing and operational budget. But
the fact is digital marketing is also
offering several tools that are readily
available for small businesses to
perform.
Myth #4 : Digital Marketing is Only for Young
Generation.
Digital Marketing is effective only in
targeting the hip and digitally survey
younger generation below 25 years of
age.
Facts: The target market for digital
marketing is not limited to the younger
generation. Reports for an international business
time is highlighted that Facebook is being
dominated by user between 25-55 years of age –
an age group demographic which has more
buying power.
Myth #5 : Everyone is Using Social Media Marketing, So
Our Company Needs to as Well.
Some businesses feel the need to be on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and
Google+, not to mention Vine, Snapchat, Tumblr, and every other social media platform they
can think of. It can’t hurt, right?
Facts: Jumping on too many social channels is a
waste of valuable time and resources. Figure out
which platforms your target audience actually uses,
and focus on those by actively participating and
creating relevant, frequent content.
Myth #6 : Digital Marketing is Free of Cost
You don’t need to spend money to develop a
digital marketing strategy. You can set up
websites and social media profiles for free
and connect with your targeted audiences.
Facts: Though digital marketing is lesser costly than
traditional marketing. Digital marketing involves some
costs to make it more effective. So that digital marketing
can generate ROI right away.
Myth #7 : Creating A Website Is Enough For Digital Marketing
Many business owners believe that simply putting up
a website is enough to make a strong online presence
and have flocks of potential customers visiting their
pages. There is no need to update its content on a
regular basis.
FACT : A website with static content that was
updated several years ago will most likely not attract
the right kind of visitors that bring results – or not
attract any website visitors at all.
Myth #8 : Links From Non-relevant Sites Or Pages Or Content
That's Outside Your Niche Won't Help You Rank Better
I would not be worried about the fact that if I'm
www.nykaa.com and I'm selling cosmetics online or have
a bunch of products and www.met-technologies.com
wants to link to me, I'm not going to be scared about that
because Met Technologies can get links as registered
user with his full profile.
Myth #9 : Never Ask for A Link Directly Or You Risk Penalties
A webmaster should not ask for a direct link that violate Google’s Guidelines completely,
it can affect that particular website those buy, sell or exchange links directly.
So, we never try to buy, sell, exchange or even ask for link directly. It’s fine to ask for a
link directly if it is appropriate and there is no paid involvement.
For example, let’s say a press writes about you but they don’t link to you is now asking for
a link on their site. Just think about it, is it bad link practice? Absolutely it is not, because
it is not asking for money or something else like this.
Myth #10 : Multiple Link From The Same Website Is
Useless
Yes it is but in SEO as webmaster, if we get links from “Unique IP Address”
within the most relevant sites, webpages or resources etc. for a particular
keyword or phrase, our rank will goes up at SERPs.
Let’s suppose that I am getting 10 backlinks and more from same IP based
website for example Microsoft Forum for my target keywords e.g. SharePoint
Developer, SharePoint Development etc. which is very relevant to me is quite
good for me as it is offering me a tremendous amount of high quality traffics and
visits which does matter in terms of traffic that increases my link popularity
Last but not the least….
To Have A Website Only Is Good Enough for Digital Marketing Campaign?
No, it is not at all. Specially for Digital Marketing Campaign, a website must
include few things:
Well Optimized Website
Rich Content (Images Or Videos)
Social Media Integration etc.

Myth #9 : Never Ask for A Link Directly Or You Risk Penalties A webmaster should not ask for a direct link that violate Google’s Guidelines completely, it can affect that particular website those buy, sell or exchange links directly. So, we never try to buy, sell, exchange or even ask for link directly. It’s fine to ask for a link directly if it is appropriate and there is no paid involvement. For example, let’s say a press writes about you but they don’t link to you is now asking for a link on their site. Just think about it, is it bad link practice? Absolutely it is not, because it is not asking for money or something else like this.

Myth #10 : Multiple Link From The Same Website Is Useless Yes it is but in SEO as webmaster, if we get links from “Unique IP Address” within the most relevant sites, webpages or resources etc. for a particular keyword or phrase, our rank will goes up at SERPs. Let’s suppose that I am getting 10 backlinks and more from same IP based website for example Microsoft Forum for my target keywords e.g. SharePoint Developer, SharePoint Development etc. which is very relevant to me is quite good for me as it is offering me a tremendous amount of high quality traffics and visits which does matter in terms of traffic that increases my link popularity
  • 14. Last but not the least…. To Have A Website Only Is Good Enough for Digital Marketing Campaign? No, it is not at all. Specially for Digital Marketing Campaign, a website must include few things: Well Optimized Website Rich Content (Images Or Videos) Social Media Integration etc.
