2. Participation in occupation
Music and dance has always been apart of my life,
my father is a singer, my nana a dancer and I love to
do both.
I chose music and movement as occupations of
choice for this slide show as I love to dance and
listen to music, I also believe music to be very
therapeutic and is present in one way or another in
many lives.
3. Within my fieldwork setting music and
movement were present everyday.
For a number of reasons music and
movement were used throughout the setting:
relaxation, bringing people together,
everyone can be included in some way,
therapeutic, happiness and joy developed
because of it, can be used as a reward,
encouragement and a moral booster.
4. Doing – goal orientated
occupations gives people a sense
a achievement. E.g. Learning to
play the piano. Madison, C. (2012)
5. Belonging – social interaction,
being apart of something. Dancing
in a group gives one a sense of
belonging. Ballet Dance Experts (n.d.).
6. Being – being with valued people.
Having fun, laughing, Happiness is
boosted by others who care about
you. Madison, C. (2012)
7. Becoming – who or what we want
to become. Perhaps a ballet
dancer, being inspired by another.
Simple Template. (2011).
8. Being – The time taken to reflect.
Relaxing being totally absorbed in
music, the moment, appreciating
the sound. Madison, C. (2012)
9. Belonging – being a part of
something, that sense of
belonging. Dance culture and being
involved with the people and way
of being. Squidoo. (2012).
