3. The “ribs” were CNC machined from MDF
wood and assembled together in order to have
the rought shape of the car.
As in real car prototyping, clay was used to
create a smooth and detailed surface faithful
to the CAD model.
Fiber glass was layered on top of the mold,
separated from it and then refined by sanding.
Finally the edges were trimmed.
To obtain a more even surface, the gaps were
filled with high density expanded polystyrene
because of its consistency and fair price.
