- Pearson is the worldwide leader in psychological assessment and Q-Interactive is their digital platform for administering, scoring, and managing psychological tests, launched in 2013.
- The platform allows for flexible, efficient, and reliable administration and scoring of over 80 psychological tests and creation of patient profiles.
- As the lead UX designer, the collaborator worked closely with Pearson for over 4 years to envision, prototype, design, and develop both paper-equivalent and native digital psychological assessments for the Q-Interactive platform.

Pearson is the worldwide leader in the field of
assessment. Q-Interactive is a
comprehensive digital platform with over 80
test contents that is used to administer and
score psychological tests. It allows clinicians
to create and manage patient data and
batteries of testing instruments.
Q-Interactive launched in 2013 with over
1.3 million subtests administered to date.

Painpoints
ALWAYS LEARNING
Cumbersome. Test kits are heavy and
psychologists only bring the minimum.
This leads to assessments that aren’t
adaptable based on client needs.
Difficult. Test giving requires extensive
practice time and a lot of attention on the
mechanics, which takes away from
monitoring client behavior.
Costly. Test kits include multiple subtests.
Complete test kits need to be purchased
independent of usage.
Inefficient and inaccurate. Tedious manual
scoring is both time consuming and prone to
tabulation mistakes. Post assessment time is
often unpaid.
Antiquated. Not much changed in decades.
Test development cycles are very long.
Especially younger clients are less engaged
with paper-based test materials.

• 360 design services for 4+ years. Embedded
into the client organization. Working in close
collaboration with business leadership, content
experts and external agile development team.
• SKETCH seamlessly interwove multiple touch
points: Software, hardware, carrying case, brand,
marketing materials and service components to
ensure a successful product system.
• Driven by user research, needs and opportunity
analysis. Constantly user tested with prototypes
of various fidelity.
• Stage 1: From proof-of-concept prototype, to
concept and detail design of a patented UI, to
market release of the digital assessment platform.
• Stage 2: Assessment content development for
the platform. First, with a focus on paper
equivalency. Later, exploring affordances and
opportunities for native digital tests.
• Stage 3: Supported the formation of an internal
design team and hand-off a comprehensive
design system and a modular content model.
