Warning Labels are affixed to the outside and inside of the Low Pressure Reservoir access panel as well as the LPR itself. The warning labels can also be found inside the operators manual located in the cab of the vehicle. Please read through these warning labels as well as the operators manual before operating the vehicle.
During normal system operation the hydraulic brakes are used to slow the vehicle down. Although the hydraulic brakes are the most efficient way to recover the trucks potential energy the foundation/ friction brakes may come on for the following reasons to ensure the complete stop of the vehicle.
When the ignition switch is shut off
The vehicle is near a complete stop
The accumulators reach their maximum state of charge
During heavy brake applications
ABS event
Hybrid Drive System Fault
2 warning lights have been added to the cab of the vehicle.
CHECK HYBRID Lamp
If the CHECK HYBRID lamp remains on or illuminates
while the vehicle is in operation, pull over and stop when it
is convenient as this indicates a minor fault has occurred in
the system. Contact a certified Runwise® Advanced Series
Hybrid Drive service technician to determine the corrective
action to take.
STOP HYBRID Lamp
If the STOP HYBRID lamp is illuminated,
the vehicle should be pulled over and stopped as soon
as it is safe. Failure to do so will result in damage to the
Runwise® Advanced Series Hybrid Drive.
The start up procedure of the vehicle is the following:
Ensure that the parking brake is applied
Ensure the ignition switch is in the off position
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position and ensure the air brake valves are closed
Turn the Ignition key to the IGN position
Ensure the vehicle is in neutral and that no fault codes are active
Start the Engine
The shift pad is used to select forward and reverse gears.
The shift pad will flash the words “warm up” if the system is in warm up mode,
The shift pad will flash the word “fault” is there is a Runwise system error
During normal starting procedures the shift pad will display NN which represents Neutral
Select The “D” button to select the three forward gears
Select the “R” button to select the reverse gears
When “D” or “R” is selected the operator will hear the engine rev up. This is normal operation for the Runwise system.
Four gauges have been added to the cab of the vehicle
The PDU oil temp gauge--- used to monitor the temperature of the PDU oil.
The Runwise Hydraulic oil temperature gauge--- used to monitor the Runwise hydraulic oil temperature.
The brake aggression gauge--- used to monitor the how aggressively the operator is driving. Keep the arrow in the green during normal operation to ensure efficient driving. If brake aggression arrow is in the red or yellow zones the friction/foundation brakes will be applied.
The accumulator state of charge gauge is used to measure how much
The disabling Procedures are as follows:
Both rear drive shafts have to be removed prior to towing the vehicle
Follow normal protocol during a fluid spill
Follow normal protocol to jump start a vehicle
