How to Win the Game of 6th Grade
Summary of the game
The Game of 6th Grade (g6g) shall not exceed 180 school days. At the end of 180
school days, all points will be calculated for final grades and the determination of
passage into the next level, The Game of 7th Grade (g7g). The stakes are high in the
g6g and shall not be taken lightly by any player. In fact, the game is so serious that
some consider that a year in 6th grade is not a game at all. All players shall be
respectful of this fact.
All of the Player Characters and the Game Master shall work as a team. The team works
together to achieve the goal of the game and win. If any one Player Character looses,
the entire team shall feel despair. It is the responsibility of each player character to lift
and support each team mate so that the entire team can achieve success in the end.
Terms for the Game of 6th Grade:
Game Master (GM) is Mrs. Hebern.
The GM shall have the final say in all disputes, shall enforce rules, and guide students
in their learning. The GM will plan activities for students and shall assist the students in
their learning of the curriculum.
The Player Character is the student.
Each student will be a Player Character
(PC). You shall be known by your birth
name. The responsibility of each PC is to
learn as much as you can through the
course of 180 school days so that you shall
be promoted to the Game of 7th Grade
(g7g) at the end of the year.

Class news shall be published on the fb page and posted on
Twitter (if appropriate for Twitter) and will be sent in emails or
paper format upon request.
Any substitute teacher shall have all powers of the GM and shall act in place of the GM.
Any teacher that PCs visit through the course of the day shall also have all rights of the
GM.
Disputes
Any Classroom Disputes between PCs shall be settled by either
Rock Paper Scissors (RPS) or with the roll of a 12 sided dice
(D12), which ever is closest at hand at the time of the dispute.
Once again, the GM has the final say in all disputes.
Three tries and the PC with 2 wins shall will the right to choose the outcome of the
dispute.
Example 1: Two PCs wish to sit in the same chair. PC 1 claims that he was there first. PC
2 claims that she was there first. Players use RPS to determine who has a right to the
seat.
Example 2: Two PCs grab the same book at the same time. Each PC has a hand on the
book. One student says, Rock, Paper, Scissors or RPC and they each toss out their
chosen symbol.
The RuLes of The Class:
All PCs should arrive on time to the arena, also know as the ‘classroom’.
All PCs should be prepared to play the g6g upon arrival at the arena, with materials
necessary for success such as paper, pencils, notebooks, computer, etc.
All PCs shall honor the Classroom Discipline Plan (CDP).
Using your brain
PCs shall use their brain at all times, not just for learning, but for making positive
decisions. This is especially important when a decision or action affects another player
or student.
Example:
A PC is pouring water out of a water bottle, and other students nearby are getting
splashed. The PC shall consider this impact, apologies, and stop as soon as he/she is
aware that others are being affected.
Set up and structure of the game
PCs will most likely not be using traditional textbooks
(TB) in class. You will access materials through your
Chromebook (CB). TBs will be used to supplement as
needed in the courses.

Example 1: In science, you will construct a science
notebook per the teacher’s instructions that will act as
your TB. Lab notebooks must stay in the classroom
unless otherwise noted by the teacher.
Example 2: In Social Studies, PCs will access a web site to
learn information about ancient Rome and will construct a
presentation to share with the other PC players.
Please note: Books are highly
v a l u e d . T h e y c o n t a i n
knowledge and the goal of
this game is to acquire
knowledge. Therefor, books are
and shall always be considered as a valuable resource.
Example 3: The math TB for CPM math is an online
book accessed through the Chromebook. A PC shall
access all math materials through the CB.
School Point System
100 points shall be issued to each student at the beginning of the year.
Less than 80: All trip privileges revoked
Detention = 2 points
Referral = 5 points per day in OC or suspension
strategy
The strategy is simple enough that everyone can be successful, yet challenging enough
that it takes a lifetime to master!
A winning PC will seek knowledge willingly.
A winning PC shall focus on personal growth throughout the game. Each
time that the PC increases their own skills, they shall move closer to winning
the game.
Winning
A PC shall win the game at the end of 180 days when enough points are accumulated
for promotion to g7g.
game calculations
Points shall be awarded for the completion of challenges, collaboration efforts,
homework, quizzes, and tests.
Grades shall given 4 times through the year and progress reports are given
approximately every 4 weeks.
Classroom Discipline Plan
Class Rules:
1. Follow directions
2. Keep hands, feet, and all objects to yourself
3. No teasing, name calling, or put downs

behavior with the GM.
3rd Warning: PC shall make a phone call to the parent. (Or GM may call as
well)
4th Warning: PC shall receive one recess or lunch detention or shall be
sent to a partner’s class for a “cooling” off period and teacher may call
parent or send a note home depending on the severity of the behavior.
5th Warning: PC shall be sent to the principal for conference and follow
up.
*Severely disruptive, defiant, or dangerous behavior (self, others, or
property) shall be sent immediately to the office to consult with Mr. Pierce.
