Chinese consumers have grown less optimistic about the economy, likely due to recent outbreaks of the omicron variant. In China, overall optimism on economic recovery remains high relative to other countries surveyed. However, the share of optimistic consumers has decreased by more than ten percentage points versus October 2021, likely in reaction to recent omicron outbreaks. Omnichannel shopping behavior and adoption of digital activities continue to prevail, and intent to continue these is high. Meanwhile, intent to spend on out-of-home activities has decreased significantly.
