4. Outline
Objective.
What is automation?
Automation tools.
Automation factors.
Data collection method.
Recommendation.
Conclusion.
5. Objective
Introducing to industrial automation system.
Observation of present automation scenario in Bangladesh.
Investigation of the factors that effects on automation system.
Finding some suggestion to develop automation system in Bangladesh.
Helps conventional industries to take decision on automation advantages and
disadvantages.
Process minimization for overall efficiency development
Improving safety rules of automation system.
6. What is automation?
Automation can be defined as a
technology concerned with performing
a process by means of programmed
commands combined with automatic
feedback control to ensure proper
execution of the instructions.
7. Advantages
• Automation increase efficiency of production in industries.
• Reduce labor cost, production cost and time.
• Reliable to maintain.
Disadvantages
• Automation increases unemployment.
• Initial cost is high.
8. Automation tools
Automation tools are:
ANN- Artificial neural network
PLC- Programmable Logic Controller
DCS - Distributed Control System
HMI – Human machine interface
PID - Proportional Integration Derivative
SCADA- Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
9. Automation factors
Automation depend on some factor. During
automation system development its stability consider
some factors such as either the process is open loop
system or close loop system; causal or non-causal;
stable or unstable system.
It also depend on the quality of system, a system is a
practical device that perform operation commanded
by program.
10. Data collection method
We have simplified all of industries two category such as:
• Chemical and foods industries.
• Packaging plants
So, we have taken some samples among them. There is four
sample of chemical industries and two samples of packaging
industries.
Two third of data directly collected from field and rest of
data collected over phone and internet.
13. Recommendation
Advanced training facilities for professionals should be organized.
Uninterrupted power supply should be ensure to protect automation device.
Compatible data format, computer hardware and software for electronic communication.
Should establish native automation system manufacturer in our country.
Develop a standard data format for collecting and maintaining information in automation
industry.
Organize and provide training on automation to the industry.
14. Conclusion
Present world become easier day by day due to automation system. As a developing
country, Bangladesh should keep in mind that industrial development could not develop
without developing automation system. Whole report study shows that automation status
of Bangladesh fully dependent on foreign developed countries. There is no automation
manufacturer, and good automation training system in Bangladesh. So, our engineers
could not get enough efforts to research and develop automation system. It is high time to
start developing our own automation system rather than depending on other countries.
